Antica Roma Restaurant in Berlin

I ordered a takeaway pizza. The service seemed stressed, and even though it wasn't busy, they were quite unfriendly. When I finally got my pizza, I was asked to wait for the colleague who was supposed to take my money. He never showed up. When I met him at the bar, he tried to rip me off. When I asked him where that was on the menu, he threw the menu at me, quite annoyed. The price of 15.90 wasn't listed anywhere. It must have been a mistake, then. Any frozen pizza is better. Of course, it could also be that the macho behavior ruined my appetite.

We saw it by chance and went in. Reservations were required but Mert Bey arranged a table for us. The pasta and salad we ate were delicious. The service was fast and good.

Great food, service and atmosphere!

I really debated whether I should write this review. The day before yesterday, I wanted to eat at this restaurant and luckily, I checked the fish counter outside the restaurant beforehand. All the fish were spoiled. The counter was full of flies, and there were flies' eggs on the fish. I reported the situation to the veterinary office. The next day, the office conducted an inspection. The counter was not in use at the time. Therefore, based on the pictures, a verbal warning was issued. Unfortunately, the warning was of no use. Last night, there was more spoiled fish on display. Therefore, I am publishing the pictures here to prevent people from getting food poisoning.

Good food (pasta and pizza). Average price €15-€30. Nice choice for italian food.

Service was almost non-existent. We waited 10 minutes until we got the menu. All the other tables had a starter/greeting from the kitchen, but we didn't get it. I ordered pizza with salmon and since then I've had problems with my stomach, I guess it wasn't good at all. My companion had a vegetarian pizza and had no problems. We had to take care of everything ourselves and tell the service staff several times that we got something.

We ordered pizza. It was quite big. I couldn't find any coating on the edge. But in the middle it's okay. The edge wasn't that crispy though. But it tasted good. It wasn't easy to cut the pizza with the cutlery, the knife is no longer sharp enough. Drinks prices were still okay. The restaurant was very full and the tables were quite crowded. The waitress kept skipping past the table. You would inevitably have to overhear conversations between those sitting next to you at the table. There is also an outdoor area where the usual spacing of the tables can be found. The ice cream sundae we ordered was well filled and also tasted very good. However, it took quite a long time before we received the ice cream menu. We received an apology for the wait and an expresso on the house. A nice gesture. Even if things didn't go quite smoothly, you can eat well here if you can cope with the narrow table spacing. Parking situation, very tense.

9/29/'24: Google informs me that an objection to a review has been received due to 'slander' (Verleumdung). From whom? The owner? It would not be good (now and in general) if 1-star reviews were removed by Google's automatic system. It remains a description of our experience. I have objected to removal. Antica Roma could have done a better job of baking us a good pizza. Original review: Our pizzas were prepared without attention and love. A burnt edge and a sloppily covered center lay on undercooked dough that felt like a tough pancake. Despite my complaint to the employee, I was presented with the entire bill. We sat for 10 minutes... the staff didn't even give us the Menu... spending time with colleagues is more important to the staff than serving customers!

Didn't have a pleasant experience in terms of service. We sat comfortably at a table in the sun. First a lady came to put a sign on our table with “reserviert” on it and she simply sent us away. We didn't agree and stayed seated. Then we ordered half a liter of rosé wine. They arrived with 1 glass of rosé and 1 beer. We immediately said that this was wrong, but the waiter did not admit his mistake and we had to keep the beer and did not get any extra rosé until we ordered one. We hoped that they would deduct the beer from the bill, but they automatically added a 10% tip without asking. This was the final straw for us. We will never come back here again. Not recommended for us.

The food was really excellent, but the service, although friendly, was unfortunately very slow, even though we were there during the weekday lunchtime and not very busy.

A great Italian! Was there twice for dinner. 1x Bruscetta Tuna and chicken breast gratinated and 1x pizza and salad. It was very well attended, but everything went quickly and the service also took the time to give advice and was still very friendly, courteous and funny. My special requests were no problem and were fulfilled. Thanks for that! I was thrilled with the food, everything was great, super tasty... clear recommendation! I'll come back when I'm in the area. I worked in fine dining for over 30 years and also for an Italian restaurant for 7 years. So I know my way around. For me it's a 4-star restaurant. Keep it up... :-)

We each ordered an ice cream sundae, yes it was lunchtime, but when the ice cream menu is on the table, you have to expect that ice cream will be ordered. The waitress raised her eyebrows because we ordered ice cream. Then we wanted a small bottle of water, got a large one. People came after us and they had their hot food quicker than our ice cream. There was more cream on the sundae than ice cream in the sundae. The vanilla ice cream was tough and didn't taste good. The strawberry ice cream and fresh strawberries were good. You can only pay in cash and will not receive an invoice.

Very nice, I urgently had to go to the toilet as a passer-by and was allowed to go and pee without spending a cent.

The food in general was okay, nothing too bad nor too special. Location is very nice. However, the service: I understand if people are having a bad day, but that does not mean they are entitled to ruin other's good expirience. The waitress (which was probably the owner) was extremely impolite and rude from the start. She did not let us feel welcome at all in her restaurant (in contrast to the other employees). Then we asked to pay like 3 or 4 times and had to wait for 15 minutes. Then when I wanted to pay with card, she told me it's not possible unless I have a bill as high as 20 euros. This she said because she didn't want to get the card reader from the inside. This was utterly unprofessional and disgusting behavior from an establishment which apparently has decent reviews. If you are thinking whether to got here or not - don't - there are better and more polite places to eat all over Berlin. In the end, I thanked her "for the unpleasant expirience" and she replied sarcastically and very bitchy. The 2 star review is die to the food being of an average quality. Cheers 🥂

The food was outstanding: the Scampi pizza was perfect, and the truffle pasta was a true delight. Add to that a stylish atmosphere and unbeatable prices for this prime location. I’ll definitely be back, simply amazing!

I was there at lunchtime, and even though the outside seating was well taken, a few tables were constantly free. Still, the waitresses were overwhelmed. It took a while for someone to notice me, and then, with a simple nod, I was shown a table. Then I sat there and had to wait again until the same waitress who had shown me the seat came over and asked if I had ordered. By then, there was still sugar on my table, and an empty coffee cup. Even then, it took a while before I could order. After that, it was relatively quick. But the pizza is mediocre, if anything.

Pizza was swimming in oil, inflexible – no pasta type change possible, card payments only accepted for €20.00 (had to pay €19.90). I was last there about a year ago. Things have changed a lot for the worse. I won't be eating there again.

A good pizzeria. We had pizzas. Palm trees were very good. Plenty of evidence. There were many pasta dishes at the neighboring tables. They all looked delicious and the Leuze people praised the food. The service was very attentive and quick. Friendly staff. The prices are good. Usual level. I'll definitely be back.

Just good. Very good quality of food, super nice attentive waiters (greetings to Dofi). The pizza and gnocchi surprised us positively and inspired us to try them out. The prices are local, we would be happy to come back.

I was shocked how they make money on you for nothing. They charged me for the hot water 2 euro🤣and tried not to show me the check. Do not recommend

Nice Italian restaurant with classics on the menu. The seasonal menu pleasantly surprised me and inspired me to try it out. It was very tasty and the prices are reasonable. The Hugo was a little too sweet for my taste. The service was quick and attentive.

It's a shame that when you want to speak to the boss about complaints, the staff is very anxious... and nothing happens... I definitely won't eat ice cream there again... Unfortunately zero stars wasn't possible.

Been here a few times for Spaghetti Bolognese. Bolognese in Europe is quite a bit different from a Canadian Bolognese which is what I'm used to. Theirs is quite a bit more meaty than what you normally find in Berlin which I appreciate. Also, it has a nice flavour. Service is a bit slow and aloof. I always sit on the patio so I can't comment on the restaurant decor. They have a nice large patio on Wittenberg Platz.

Excellent establishment! Classic Italian menu in excellent execution! The staff speaks excellent English, the nicest owner and... which is not unimportant!!! Open on Sunday. We ordered: Bottle of mineral water Starter bruschetta White wine-500ml 2 main courses 2 desserts (cream boule is top notch, strudel is also good!) And a cappuccino....two))) 90 euros. I definitely recommend it!!!

From the food to the staff, everything was great!

Pizza is delicious, service is quick and good and the ambience is nice too. Pizza types are sometimes exotic, but there is certainly something for everyone. There were also desserts, but they were rather expensive.

Taste is really good, had tried Penne al arrabbiata, quinoa salad, Margherita pizza. Need to work on quantity of the food, maybe it's delicious that's why you left wanting for more.

A culinary delight! I tried the tagliatelle with truffle and it was absolutely heavenly! The pasta was perfectly al dente, the truffle flavors were intense and wonderfully harmonious. The service was attentive and friendly, the atmosphere warm and inviting. Everything is just right here – a place that I can warmly recommend to any lover of Italian cuisine. I'll definitely be back!

I cannot recommend this restaurant. The food was delicious and the first server was very polite and attentive. But when we paid, the impression was greatly spoiled: a waitress simply threw her cell phone with the amount on the table without asking whether we wanted to pay together or separately, and then walked away indifferently. My friend said he wanted to pay by card, but she just asked, ‘Maybe cash?’ Then he had to justify why he couldn’t pay in cash. She didn't even really listen to him, ran away, got the card terminal and cashed in with total indifference. This behavior completely ruined the otherwise good impression.

It's a shame, everyone says it's a great restaurant. My visit was completely different - although it wasn't very busy, they couldn't bring the menu within 10 minutes. We left without trying anything. My experience was a disappointment

09-12-2024 Had a nice dinner here with 4 people. Nice restaurant. Service is super friendly. We were well looked after. Price-quality ratio is very good. We notice that prices in restaurants are often noticeably cheaper than in the Netherlands.

Had dinner there with 4 colleagues. The ambience is very nice. The waiter was great, a Sicilian with a lot of humor. The food was delicious and within the price range. Highly recommended.

Were there with a group. Pre-ordered food. Everything went well so far. Then when someone asked for a small (!!) second helping - the answer was - you have to pay for that........ If he had said kindly - there's nothing left. Everything OK. But he didn't make any friends with his answer.

Pizza was delicious and the service was friendly. Unfortunately quite loud and cramped in places.

Food was not particularly tasteful though I suppose it could be more or less credited to the fact that the restaurant was being flooded with customers. Regardless, the pizza that I received seemed to have been undercooked as the dough lacked any crisp to it, more, fat was all around the plate and I can assure you that the pizza was not even remotely close to passing the tissue test. What was great though was the staff, everyone seemed to be cheerful and friendly. Prices are also great granted the location of the restaurant as you are literally able to get a pizza for 15€ right in front of the KaDeWe. I will probably give the restaurant a second go to see if the food has improved any bit. Also for the love of God please do start slicing the pizza before serving it.

Very tasty pasta. For 3 dinners we tried with mussels, shrimp, salmon, pizza with shrimp. Good wine, beer and mulled wine. Fast service. Good service. Next to Kadewe. I recommend it 😉

The truth is that this place surprised us from the first visit. Very good treatment, the product shows quality. The quantities of the dishes are very adjusted to the prices, even very large portions. Just look at the photos and decide. Recommended if you are in the area.

We were there as part of a BPA trip on the evening of November 15th. Very cozy atmosphere and friendly welcome. We omnivores got a very tasty pasta dish with a creamy mushroom-meat sauce (I would be happy to hear from the owner at this point to find out the exact name of the dish) and the vegetarians got a lavish pizza with vegetables. For dessert there was panna cotta. In summary, I can say that this was the best meal of our entire trip. We would also be happy to come back for a private visit to Berlin!

We've been to the place twice. We had lasagna and risotto, mulled wine and strudel - all were delicious.

The staff is incredibly rude and disrespectful. We got yelled by a waiter for sitting at the wrong table. Also the food was really bad, I ordered penne all arrabiata and it had really big chunks of garlic all over the sauce, instead of it being well blended. My table was beside a brick wall and the bricks were full of dust.

We come from Würzburg / Münnerstadt, were in Berlin over the weekend and tried out a few restaurants. But this one has become our favorite. Will definitely come here again on our next visit to Berlin.

I am at a loss for words ! It was simply a dream, the service is very attentive and very competent. The bruschetta appetizer was amazing! For the main course we had the parpadella with salmon, spaghetti Bolognese and the porcini mushroom potato soup. It was a dream, everything tasted very good. The salmon was tender and juicy, the lobster sauce was delicious and the noodles were on point! The Bolognese was also extremely tasty. The sauce clung to the noodles which was really good. Unfortunately we couldn't fit any more dessert as the portions were very large, which we liked. In short, price performance is great here!

It's amazing that this really touristy place doesn't rely on guests only coming once! The pasta is excellent and the portions are more than filling. Sometimes you have to be patient, the staff like to chat and neglect waiting guests. But overall likeable

Schon bei der Ankunft fanden wir ein sehr unaufmerksames Personal vor. Auf Anfrage bzgl. Tischauswahl wurde von einem Kellner sehr unfreundlich, unmotiviert schon fast aggressiv reagiert. Wir haben dann auch umgehend, mit entsprechender verbaler Reaktion, das Lokal verlassen. Weit entfernt von kundenorientiertem Verhalten .

Sehr unfreundliches, fast schon unverschämten Personal!! Anscheinlich besteht kein monetären Bedarf der Besitzer, das Lokal war auch abends nur sehr spärlich besucht!
