Altstadt Café in Reinheim

We were there as a group for several hours for a family celebration. I received excellent advice during the planning phase and was given a coffee on the house, a very friendly gesture. Everything at the celebration was to our greatest satisfaction. Everyone enjoyed it, the food was fresh, colorful and locally sourced. Delicious dessert, good cake, also available vegan. Everything was lovingly prepared and the tables were decorated for Christmas. If 13 people are very satisfied with everything over several hours, that's worth 5 stars in all respects. I was there for breakfast with my best friend today. We were warmly welcomed and served in a friendly manner. We never lacked for anything. The breakfast was delicious, fresh and plentiful. We'll definitely come back again.

I had breakfast there on a Sunday. I had the acai bowl, also a croissant with Nutella and the organic fried eggs. I liked everything very much, but the fruit puree in the bowl was extremely cold, almost like slush ice. Definitely great in summer. A bit cold for autumn/winter. We sat in a side room, the noise was quite high there, but all the tables were occupied. The service was very friendly.

The food was OK for a high price. However, it smells very strongly of the kitchen, sometimes there was a really burning smell of a frying pan. I have no idea whether the extractor hood was defective - we found it really uncomfortable.

Today we took a break on an Odenwald tour with the Ryker. As always satisfied. Staff is friendly. Had a cappuccino, BioZisch lemon and the small salad bowl

I recommend making a reservation by phone in advance, especially if there are several of you. As always, the food was delicious and beautifully presented. In the evening it is also beautiful and romantic here. The croissant was exchanged for the olives, which are actually included in the Altstadt Variation breakfast, at a small extra charge. My Eggs Benedict’s were the way I like them, liquid core. However, I would not recommend picking up the slice of bread with the egg like you would eat normal bread if you don't want to get dirty, but eat it with a knife and fork. Overall, a really nice area for everyone. Our chai latte and cappucino were also beautifully presented and delicious. This was my fourth and definitely not last visit. P.s: They are also very dog ​​friendly, perfect for those who have an assistance dog.

The Altstadt Café Groß-Umstadt is rated on Google with an average of 4.6 stars, which I found excessive. They are good, have delicious food in normal portions for breakfast, lunch and dinner, at reasonable prices. The service is very friendly, the location and the ambience are old-fashioned and cozy. There's actually nothing to seriously complain about. But 4.6 stars correspond to the level of a top restaurant and they are a long way from that. Let's say a good 4.2, that would be much more appropriate.

Our service employee seemed to be very reprimanded by the boss, so she always just referred to “the boss”. It's a shame ☹️ Drinks were great, food looked good.

A very nice restaurant/café is the Altstadtcafe in Gross-Umstadt. There were 9 of us there and we really enjoyed everything. Annalisa's service was perfect and very good, she is friendly and very, very nice 🫶 The AltstadtCafe is also very cozy outside when the weather is nice. Everything was perfect and is highly recommended. I'll be back 🫶

My wife and I ate there on a recommendation and were thrilled.....great ambience....great furnishings....the selection is totally sufficient....in my opinion there is something for everyone.. .. Portion size is sufficient....we didn't know this and ordered as the pictures show....everything is fresh and beautifully prepared.....the staff is super friendly.....price-performance ratio is definitely justified .....

Nettes Café im Ortskern. Gutes Angebot an Frühstücken und Cafevarianten. Leider ist auch hier frühstücken kein ganz günstiges Vergnügen aber die Qualität fanden wir gut und z.B. das Standardfrühstück hätte im Zweifel mit zwei weiteren Brötchen auch für 2 Personen mit normalem/kleinen Appetit ausgereicht.

Today I was outside on the market square in the old town café in the best summer weather. You can sit nicely under parasols with a great view. I ordered hummus for a quick lunch, which came with toasted white bread. On my hummus scale I would say good average. There could have been a few olives as a contrast, but with the white bread it was too dry and weakly seasoned for me. Next time we'll have a salad. The waitresses were very attentive and nice

I like the old town café! The reception itself is incredibly accommodating and kind. The service is very friendly, attentive and fast and the food comes surprisingly quickly. I love the Thai curry and the burgers and I really like the coffee. Not to forget the incredibly delicious cakes in the counter. You can feel the love and passion with which the café is run and the good atmosphere that prevails. I really like the atmosphere, I like this style.

I was there with 3 friends. Orders were frequent mixed up, i.e. h. Drinks were delivered that were not ordered. Then 2 drinks were returned and the correct drinks were delivered. This was repeated twice. So far so good, but these “fake drinks” became additive calculated. I only noticed it when I did the math at home, but unfortunately I didn't get the receipt. The food was very tasty, But we would have liked to order more, but at some point there was no service. Too bad. Unfortunately this happened to me personally for the second time.

As a former chef, I can only say Chapeau, quality price/performance ratio is right, goods offered are of good quality, keep it up.....

Here you can get delicious gluten-free penne, burgers and sometimes even gluten-free cakes in a beautiful atmosphere. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio decreased somewhat after moving to Groß-Umstadt: 12 fries with a burger were far too few, even for our 14-year-old daughter! Prices are rather high. The atmosphere in the renovated restaurant is very nice and the service is great too! When the weather is good you can sit outside on the market square. Many gluten-free dishes possible!

Super!!!!!! We and a family friend celebrated our daughters' confirmation with a total of 50 people in the Old Town Cafe at the beginning of May. The food was very tasty, the service was great and the ambience/table decoration was simply beautiful. A clear recommendation. We have previously been to the "old" old town cafe in Reinheim and feel very comfortable at the new location. We'll definitely be back :)

We were there on a Sunday. You had to wait a relatively long time for service before you could order (around 20 at least after twice the request). The food was delicious and the coffee was great too.

A very nice café with an attractive ambience. The service was very friendly and attentive. I also found it authentic that the owner wore a necklace with a croissant around her neck. The breakfast was really tasty, even if the portions were a little small for the price. The toilets are also a bit narrow and the ceiling is very low, but there's probably no other way to fix that.

Wir haben eine 3/4 Std auf unser Essen warten müssen! Ich habe einen Rosewein getrunken; dabei wurde der teuerste abgerechnet (Glas, 0,2l >> 9,50€!!)! Find ich frech; dann sollte man doch bitte bei der Bestellung nochmal fragen, welchen Rosé man aus der Karte gerne hätte. Essen war lecker!

The food was quite good, manageable portions for a reasonable price. But that's how it is everywhere right now. Unfortunately it is very loud and lively. Most of the tables are on passageways where children also run to the play area. But they don't have space to play either. Eating comfortably/in peace is not possible. Staff is still a bit uncoordinated and constantly asks for further orders, which initially builds up a certain amount of pressure and then becomes annoying because the conversation is constantly interrupted. We were there for 2.5 hours and found it very tiring. Things were different in Reinheim. Nothing more for me. A pity!

Such a lovely cafe/restaurant! The drinks were great, the food was delicious and the staff was very, very friendly. Even though we hadn't made a reservation and it was pretty much fully booked, we were offered a spot. Contrary to previous reviews, I didn't find it any louder than in other restaurants. I think it's nice that the owner makes such an effort to allow her guests to visit! A look at the photo book on display revealed that a lot of heart went into setting up and running the restaurant. We recommend a visit!

We were there for dinner. The food was good. After I had a chai latte for dinner, it looked good decorative, with flowers on it. I had my mouth full of dried flowers and couldn't enjoy the chai. I also told the waitress. We had to ask the waitress to come and order something else. Unfortunately the acoustics are very loud. I miss the cozy atmosphere that it was in Reinheim. The atmosphere comes across to me like a renovated inn. For me, a café has a different flair.

Very loud, we had to wait 15 minutes for our coffee and then another 45 minutes for our breakfast. We had the standard breakfast for €14.00, it was very bland and simply prepared. For the price I would definitely have expected it differently. Rolls weren't the least bit crispy, just crunchy. On a positive note, I would like to say that the sausage, cheese, jam and egg were of very good quality.

We didn't make a reservation, it was a spontaneous idea. With luck there was still a place. The breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. Gladly again. But.....as already described by other people, it was very, very loud. I even turned off my hearing aids for a while. A conversation at your own table was almost impossible. We are expecting visitors soon and will not be going to the Altstadt Cafe because we don't want our guests to have a headache.

Update: Now in Umstadt as in Reinheim - reservations are required - and that if you just want to drink an espresso....🤣👎🏽 Reinheim: We would have liked to have breakfast on site, but unfortunately it is not possible to get a table there without prior reservation for several days! This of course speaks for the popularity of the restaurant, but makes it impossible to stop by there spontaneously. A pity!

We had breakfast there for my son's 5th birthday after the café was recommended to us on social media as being particularly family-friendly. We even mentioned in advance that it was his birthday, unfortunately there wasn't even a "happy birthday". But it wasn't a drama either. The food was very, very tasty and looked great. The atmosphere was horrible. It was just terribly loud, we all had headaches and it was extremely uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the children didn't eat anything because it stressed them out. The play area is very (!) nice, but there is simply no space. It's in the back corner and you can hardly move there. The climbing triangle starts almost directly behind the chair. The situation is a catastrophe for strangers. We had a 45 minute journey and then drove around forever and only found parking spaces that took 1 hour. After parking 10 minutes away with the kids, it was very, very inconvenient. How should you do that? Leave the children behind with one parent every 60 minutes so that the parking disc can be moved further? We wanted to get out of the café quickly, so in the end it wasn't a problem for us. It's a shame, the food was really good, but unfortunately we won't be coming back again. Absolutely not recommended, especially with children.

I wanted to have a coffee in the middle of the week during my lunch break and went to the old town café. Not even half of the tables were occupied. I wanted to sit down - nothing was - a condition came running towards me as to whether I had reserved. I asked her if I need to make a reservation for a coffee in a half-empty cafe in the middle of the week? She wanted to assign me a table. I then went to the "market square", the part of the café without a reservation. It was like a canteen, bare, uncomfortable and narrow tables. There were strollers everywhere and the children's cries drowned out everything because the room was so noisy. There are notices on the tables about WiFi, but it didn't work. The prices are salty. A small bowl of hummus with 2 small slices of bread 7 euros. After an hour I left, the tables in the main café were still empty... Next time different café, there are enough around the market square.

I can only recommend the operators to take the bad reviews seriously, because people from surrounding areas quickly lose interest if they don't feel comfortable. It's very loud, so it's tiring to follow a conversation at your own table. People with hearing aids will probably no longer understand anything. The service seems overwhelmed and not yet well-established. I would be very happy if the level of Reinheim could be reached again.

Unfortunately, absolutely not a recommendation if you want to spend a relaxing, quiet evening. It's noisy! Extremely loud! Children are screaming (seems to be a family restaurant somehow...). You don't understand the person you're talking to and after a very short time you get a headache. The atmosphere is uncomfortable, cold, typical Scandinavian style. But this sort of thing is a matter of taste. The service was subpar. Slow, wrong drinks brought (Äppler instead of wine spritzer), starter together with the main course, even though it was specifically mentioned. Drinks were forgotten at the 2nd hour. The service was confusing, there were actually enough waiters - but unfortunately there was no organization. The boss came personally and apologized. There was a drink on the house. But that didn't save the evening either. Food tasted ok. Starter for 10 euros - 3 dips, 3 small slices of baguette. Never experienced anything like this. When we asked for more bread we were told: "Today it's free for once"... The hummus was completely salty and barely edible, the avocado dip tasted sour. The bowl was good, the ravioli without any seasoning. Reinheim had a nice atmosphere and good service. Groß-Umstadt is not worth a visit. A pity!

We have already been to Reinheim and today we were in Groß-Umstadt for the first time. Well remodeled, very nice atmosphere. Great service - fast, attentive, friendly - high praise. If you want a cheap breakfast, this is the wrong place for you. But in return you also get the corresponding quality; the purchase of regional products should also be highlighted. We think the concept is great and look forward to our next visit.

Unfortunately I have to correct my 5 star rating. It was once beautiful in Reinheim and our absolute favorite café. Unfortunately, after moving to Groß Umstadt, it is no longer recommended and I would completely advise families with children not to go there.

I was in the new location for the first time today. I really liked it. Service super friendly and quick. My meal was great (Buddha bowl with fried chicken) and the cappuccino afterwards was also in a class of its own. I couldn't get past the apple crumble cake either. He's fantastic. The rooms are beautifully designed and everything is somehow made with heart. I felt super comfortable and right at home and come back more often. Now add the right cider and everything would be perfect 😉 Thank you.

Dear Altstadt Café team, you can't please everyone. However, I think it's great with you. The ambience is top notch and the food and service are great as usual. If the play area is too small for you, you just have to go to the nearest playground with a coffee to go, preferably from you. Keep it up, always with a smile on your face. Umstadt sees us more often again 🫶

A clear, very well-run location with a delicious breakfast, great Christmas buffet, delicious evening menu. Has a play area for children and great desserts especially cakes. Reservations are highly recommended, or at least call if a spontaneous visit is planned. We were very surprised by the service, offer and quality and this café has now become a regular address.

Always worth a visit! A cozy atmosphere that is enhanced by the young, harmonious team! You can eat delicious food here and warm up with a hot, good coffee.

Total gemütlich, sehr aufmerksame und freundliche Bedienung, das Frühstück war enorm lecker. Mit gemütlichem Kamin-Ambiente bei regnerischem Herbstwetter.... sehr gerne wieder.

Meine Firma hat in diesem Café Essen für ein Meeting bestellt und ich war so angenehm überrascht von der hohen Qualität und der schönen Präsentation der Speisen. Ich mochte besonders die Veggie-Wraps mit Avocado und hausgemachten Falafel, so knusprig, cremig und frisch. Sehr empfehlenswert für eine Pause mit Freunden, aber auch für Unternehmenstreffen.

Die Firma, für die ich arbeite, hat heute hier Essen bestellt, und es war das beste Catering für Geschäftsessen, das wir in den 5 Jahren, die ich hier arbeite, je hatten. Alles frisch, qualitativ hochwertig und schön präsentiert. So sehr, dass ich eine kurze Pause gemacht habe, um diese Bewertung zu schreiben. Ich mochte besonders die Wraps mit Falafel und Avocado, cremig und knusprig zugleich und sehr sättigend, aber trotzdem leicht!

Kreatives Frühstück zu fairen Preisen. Schön eingerichtet, leider recht laut. Personal bringt sich nicht gerade vor Freundlichkeit um.

Essen war gut und auch alles super frisch. Hat für mich jedoch nicht für 5 Sterne gelangt, jedoch glaube ich das dies Geschmackssache ist, deshalb vorbei schauen und euch schmecken lassen. Ambiente ist echt schön, und Bedienung super freundlich. Danke

Wir hätten gerne das Restaurant ausprobiert, leider hat tetefonisch niemand abgenommen und online konnten wir auch kein Termin ausmachen. Vielleicht kommen wir ja irgendwann mal in dieses Restaurant, so können wir leider keine Empfehlung aussprechen, da wir es nicht kennen.

Sehr schönes Lokal. Leider bald nicht mehr in Reinheim. Aber wir fahren auch gerne nach Gross-Umstadt.

Ein Café mit einem wirklich tollem Ambiente, zum frühstücken auch absolut empfehlenswert. Diesesmal waren wir aber zum abendessen dort. Die Auswahl ist nicht sehr groß und besonders gut fand ich es auch nicht. Trotzdem ein schön geführtes Lokal mit gutem Service. Schade das es demnächst schließt und in Groß Umstadt wieder eröffnete.

Mit viel Liebe und Mühe renovierter Hof. Kuchentheke etwas spärlich. Ausgesuchte Karte, kleine Köstlichkeiten wie zweierlei Sorbets usw.

War dort zum Frühstücken. Man sitzt bei schönen Wetter in einem schönen Garten in angenehmer Atmosphäre. Die Frühstück Auswahl ist vielseitig mit vielen gesunden Zutaten. Gerne wieder. Leider ab nächsten Jahr nicht mehr in Reinheim sondern in Groß-Umstadt. Das schöne Ambiente wird vielleicht fehlen.

Klasse, wenn auch für Reinheim hochpreisig. Der Betrieb wird demnächst aufgegeben, die derzeitige Betreiberin eröffnet in Gross Umstadt am Marktplatz

Chicken Korma und Schnitzel gegessen, dazu noch Pommes frites mit Kochkäse, es war jeden Cent wert! Kommen auf jeden Fall öfter !

Ich bin da immer wieder gerne zum Frühstück, auch wenn es nicht ganz günstig ist, aber das Ambiente macht alles wett 🙂

Update: nach Umbau wirklich toll und angenehme Atmosphäre. Ein sehr schönes Cafe. Lecker Kuchen und nette Bedienung. Leider werden wir uns drinnen nicht mehr hin setzen! Es war unerträglich laut. So laut, das ich mein Gegenüber nicht verstanden habe. Es war gut besucht, aber selbst bei weniger Besuchern, wird es laut sein. Schade. Immer Sommer kommen wir vielleicht nochmal. Draußen wird es besser sein.

Schnuckeliges Café mit netten Speisen und Service.

Hier fühlt man sich wohl. Der Service ist äusserst aufmerksam und freundlich. Die reguläre Speisekarte wird ergänzt durch Tagesgerichte. Wir entschieden uns für eine gut abgeschmeckte und gewürzte Gulaschsuppe. Anschließend wählten wir ein weiteres Tagesgericht: Grüner Spargel,eine Avocado, Ziegenkäse und ein Spielgelei war auch noch mit dabei. Das zweite gewählte Gericht war das chicken Korma mit Basmati Reis und Naan Brot. Auch dieses Gericht war gut gewürzt und sehr lecker. Die Portionen empfanden wir als sehr großzügig. Das Café ist wirklich empfehlenswert und eine Reservierung lohnt sich.
