Exactly what we had hoped for to round off our Munich trip! The food was absolutely delicious, the service quick and friendly. The prices were perfectly reasonable! The only downside: you could practically freeze in the restroom.

Food arrived very quickly and all extras were taken care of. Excellent value for money. Great atmosphere.

We've set up this place, lots of free tables, unlike the popular Augustiner and Ratskeller. Everything is delicious, but the service and staff are unfriendly!!! No thank you, hello, or goodbye.

An old inn with a lovely ambiance. We were warmly welcomed by rustic lamps and cozy furnishings. The menu is beautifully printed on wood and offers a wide selection. Perhaps a little too wide?! The duck seemed to have been reheated, but was only lukewarm inside, and the skin was soggy. The taste, however, was decent. The pork medallions were cooked a bit too long, with a firm bite, but still edible. The Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) were excellent and perfectly balanced in flavor. Superb! I would say the price-performance ratio was reasonable (half a duck €28 / pork medallions €24), but I had expected a bit more.

Had high expectations for this place considering previous reviews were pretty positive! Unfortunately it fell flat where service was concerned. The waiter tt took our order got the side dish wrong for my husband. Although it was corrected he didnt realise tt he got my side dish wrong. The staff are “unfriendly” & they had zero patience to explain the dishes or drinks to us. So the whole experience was distasteful to say the least.

Had dinner at this place during the Christmas holidays. Not to crowded at dinner. Food was fantastic. Ordered the roasted pork with potato dumpling and coleslaw. Must try👍🏽 the crispy pork skin with the roasted meat is superb. Another is the cordon bleu which is also highly recommended 👍🏽 Also order the pumpkin soup and bread dumpling with creamy mushroom sauce. This last two is just alright. The service was very fast as well. Also loved the Spaten Hell beer 🍺 When you are on Munich, this is a hidden gem. Must try 👍🏽👍🏽

Perfect for an authentic food experience in Munich! The Bergsteiger Schnitzel is amazing and the soups were fantastic! Great service and not too busy for lunch. They do have menus with English. Great locals spot!!! Get off the beaten path for this one. Worth it!

I ordered the cordon blue, i absolutely love cordon blue and being able to eat the original way it is prepared, pork not chicken, not smothered in some sorta white sauce (America I’m looking at you) this was great. The atmosphere was fantastic. The host/waiter maybe he was a manager was super accommodating! I had tagged this place to visit and we happened to be walking past it after a tour. We had 7 people and not reservation, and he made it happen. Some of my party had the onion steak, highly recommend that. I would come back if I ever get back to Munich it’s a great spot.

We dined at the Altmünchner Gesellenhaus as a group. I can only say it was a fantastic recommendation and a very enjoyable evening. The dining room is beautifully decorated and inviting. The volume was just right, allowing us to have a great conversation. Our meals were excellent. Whether it was Schäufele (pork shoulder), Allgäuer Pfandl (a type of pan-fried dish), or fish – everyone raved about it. Considering the quality and portion sizes, the prices are very reasonable. The very affordable lunch menu is also worth checking out. We will definitely be back, as the staff was very attentive and friendly.

The “Old Munich Journeyman’s House” is a neighborhood hidden gem dishing out traditional Bavarian cuisine. The interior is warm and welcoming with plenty of space. I had the following amazing items that hit the spot! Allgäuer Pfander - pork fillet medallions on cheese spätzle and creamed mushrooms. A glass of Spaten Münchner Hell. Fun fact: Spaten was the first Munich brewery to produce this type of light beer in 1894! Centrally located near the central train station and all the hotels, this one is a must visit for hearty food and drink!

Probably one of the hidden gems of the center. The food vas very tasty with big portions. We had the Gordon bleu which was very good, I totally recommend it. I also recommend the other snitzels. In the last three days we've eaten at this location and everything was really good.

We had an excellent meal here. The service was quick. The only disappointment was the coffee.

We had reserved a table for three people on Saturday evening. Based on the consistently positive reviews, we were looking forward to a cozy evening in a Bavarian restaurant. Unfortunately, our visit didn't live up to our expectations. A large party was taking place in the adjoining room, where a DJ was playing oriental music at deafening volume and extreme bass. Because the two doors to this room were constantly being opened by both the service staff and the guests at the party, the volume doubled. All the guests in the main hall seemed annoyed. The restaurant was quite busy, and there were far too few waiters on duty. As a result, everything took a very long time: 20 minutes for drinks, the appetizer salad arrived relatively quickly, but we waited 45 minutes for the main course. Unfortunately, I can't say anything uncritical about the food either: the Allgäu Pfanderl (a kind of pork sausage) and the Zwiebelrostbraten (a roast beef with onions) were excellent. The plated meat, on the other hand, was simply a disgrace. For one thing, the savoy cabbage was missing, and for another, the meat was simply fatty. So, if you think you're getting something adequate to accompany the boiled beef, you're sadly mistaken. Since I was already hungry, I had the meat and potatoes packed up and gave it to my dog ​​at home. The photos show that some of the meat was just fat. Absolutely unacceptable to me. One star for two very good dishes, and one star for the friendliness of our waiter—unfortunately, that's all I can give.

We decided on the inn on the spur of the moment. The ambiance had inspired us to stop in. The inn was busy, which made the service very overwhelmed. We waited almost an hour for our food. The dishes arrived lukewarm, and my shoulder of pork was completely salty. We sent everything back and left feeling hungry.

I enjoyed some if the best food I had here during my stay in Munich, my friends and I came here 4 times in one week because we enjoyed it so much. The lady who served us was very friendly and happy to engage us in conversation. Whilst the main menu might be pricey in places (although worth it) they offer daily deals which means you can enjoy a meal for a single digit price tag if you're on a budget. If you are staying nearby I'd certainly make a visit an essential part of your stay for authentic Bavarian food in a charming environment.

Exceeded our expectations. We, a group of 6, chose to have dinner at this restaurant mainly because it was very close to our hotel (Alpen), suitable after long walks around old town attractions all day. And we were pleasantly surprised. Besides traditional Bavarian dishes, they also had good selections of fish and other entrées, which were welcomed after having Bavarian meat dishes throughout our stay. The fish (local fish Zander) was fresh and very tasty. The curry dish was particularly good - one person in our group, who operated several Asian restaurants in the US, commented that it was better than authentic Asian restaurants!

Convenient location close to main train station. Good food and friendly wait staff. We were there the night before Oktoberfest and the place was busy. Wait staff were busy dashing from table to kitchen and back, doing it with a smile. We ordered the Jagerwurst with spatzelle and the Munchner Wurst then Apple Fritters for dessert.

July 29, 2025, 7 p.m.: The food was delicious and fairly priced. Unfortunately, the waitress didn't seem to be paying attention to his guests. He took the food and drinks and brought them back. There was no friendliness at all, so I didn't tip and explained it to him. No response.

Delicious food, friendly service, a lovely atmosphere, and an authentic ambiance—what more could you want? We'd happily return. Highly recommended! Fresh Kaiserschmarrn for dessert is also included, of course.

Stopped by for dinner because it was close to our hotel and the food was delicious. We had the jagerschnitzel, roast pork, and goulash. The jagerschnitzel and spatzle was so good. The roast pork had a very crispy skin. The cole slaw had a hint of horseradish and was good. We ate everything. Very happy we stopped by.

Loved our dinner here. The Jägerschnitzel with the mushroom cream sauce was excellent. Just know that it isn’t breaded. The Schweineschnitzel was delicious as well. Perfectly breaded and fried. The spaetzle is amazing! Wish we had time to visit again before we leave.

Was very delicious. Best jagerschnitzel I have ever had! The mushroom sauce was delicious and the spaetzel was amazing. Can never have this dish back in USA again. Would give 5 stars if it wasn’t for so many guests smoking. Note: eat inside if it bothers you too. It is what it is. Many Germans (or Austrian) here do goes to show the locals know where to eat.

The menu is well packed with modern and traditional food. Serving times are fast and the food is what you expect. Service is friendly, answers are short and precise. The cheese "spätzle" with fried onions was especially good! The outdoor "garden" is situated between buildings and could use some green.

I went in because I wanted to eat Schweinebraten (15.50€). I went in around 17:30 and there were no other customers there. I ordered a wheat beer (small size), which was brought to me shortly after I ordered it. It was a very cold beer and was delicious. The meat was very tender and the skin was grilled to a crisp. The portion was quite large. It was quite greasy, so I was grateful that it came with a salad. The speed of service, the quality of the food, and the price were all excellent.

Highly recommended: Schnitzel Wednesday! Otherwise... Cozy, cozy, good value!

It was so quiet that I wondered if it would be open if I went there late at night. When I went inside, there were quite a few customers, so I guess it's hard to hear noise. As the name suggests, it has an old-fashioned atmosphere (I don't know what it was like back then, but that's the image I got). The restaurant is quite spacious, and the tables are also quite wide, so you can relax and enjoy yourself. The amount of food is a bit too much for Japanese people, but it wasn't so much that you couldn't finish it all, and the price was reasonable, but it was still delicious. If I had room in my stomach, I would have liked to try other dishes.

I wanted to eat schnitzel and potato salad. I was staying at a hotel in front of the central station, so I didn't want to go far. After searching around... I heard that prices in Germany have gone up a lot, but this is so unbelievable ;;;; After searching, I visited this place. It was in an alley, so the area was a bit damp(?), but when I went in, it was spacious and clean, and especially, it wasn't crowded, so I could eat leisurely, which I really liked. Schnitzel: It was crispy and had a taste of freshly fried food. It was delicious. It tasted just like I thought. Potato salad: It wasn't as sour as I thought... but you can tell that it's a potato salad. It would have been nice if there were cucumbers in the middle to add a crunchy texture. Beer: I don't drink beer often and I don't know much about it. Since I don't drink alcohol well, I ordered a small amount of schnitt. It was just refreshing. After eating everything, I was a little full, and I felt a little regretful that I wish I had eaten more. If you want to eat schnitzel, don't go to expensive places that you don't know if they're tourist attractions or restaurants, but come here~

The food is above average. I've had worse, but I've also had better. Unfortunately, we had to wait about 15 minutes to order, even though the place wasn't even half full... We really liked the atmosphere. The restrooms were clean, but the sink takes some getting used to. You end up splashing water on yourself more than washing your hands.
