Altes Gasthaus Giese in Meppen

The food was very good, lots of meat options at the buffet, something for everyone, and the side dishes were excellent. I'd go back anytime.

We arrived around 7pm but we couldn't eat, the kitchen closes at 8pm and is open until 10pm, which is a bit of a shame.

We had a really cool short break in Emsland and went to Giese three times, two of them for a beer in the afternoon... the service and atmosphere were so great that we invited our friends on the last evening. Very cozy restaurant, small, simple menu but very tasty and not expensive.

Very cozy inn. We stopped by shortly before 8 p.m. on our motorcycle tour and stopped for a quick rest. The kitchen was already closed, but we were given drinks. Very friendly staff. We'd love to come back.

The restaurant's beer garden is truly beautiful and inviting, but unfortunately, the uncomfortable wooden chairs without cushions significantly spoil the seating experience. I ordered a schnitzel with mushrooms, fries, and salad. Unfortunately, the dish was not convincing in any respect. The dressing on the side salad seemed like a ready-made sauce and was disappointing in taste. The mushrooms seemed to come from a can, which shouldn't be found in a restaurant. The schnitzel itself was made from inferior meat and was neither particularly tender nor flavorful. Considering the not-so-cheap prices, this is truly disappointing. Overall, the food unfortunately didn't impress me, and I would therefore not recommend the restaurant.

What a beautiful old building, not modern or very fansy, but wonderfully old and atmospheric building. And the food was really overwhelmingly delicious. Simple and enough and very tasteful. It was a beautiful experience.

Nice place for a beer, but otherwise very poor. There were no vegetarian dishes listed on the menu. The only thing available was the cheese platter for vegetarians. Warning! A cheese platter for over €10 is a slice of bread topped with standard cheese slices. No local specialties. My wife's schnitzel wasn't convincing. Mayo was smothered directly on the fries, so they got soggy... Very disappointing. When I asked the waitress about the "cheese platter," I was told to "ask first" what it was.

This idyllic inn is located directly on the banks of the Hase River. Cycling and hiking trails intersect here. Excellent coffee and cakes are served, and the menu also includes hot meals.

The inn is a rustic house, yes, that's true. But it is also very dusty. You sit in the middle of lots of cobwebs... On the lamps and also directly above the guests' tables. There wasn't much going on this Saturday, but the waitresses still seemed very stressed. We as a family didn't particularly like the food. After we had finished our food, the plates were cleared away and we weren't even asked if we wanted something for dessert or if we wanted any more drinks. After a while we left too.

A nice traditional restaurant with a special flair. Food was served quickly, fried potatoes were crispy, sauce was plentiful. Schnitzel delicious. Everything as it should be. Gladly again... By the way: If you're interested, you can get the key for the school museum across the street at the Giese Inn. Worth seeing with authentic exhibits, knapsacks as was customary in the past, slates, teacher's clothing, wall map of the Meppen district, Kaiser Wilhelm picture on the wall, old photos of Bokeloh, oven, wooden shoes, etc. etc. The church is also worth seeing (the oldest of the... Emsland)

So unique and beautifully located on the Hasebrücke... if you don't know it yet, I absolutely recommend it! I've been here several times now, drinking coffee outside when the weather is nice and partying inside. The inn is well-kept, rustic, absolutely unique and so cozy. Outside on the terrace, you'll have to be lucky to get a seat. There is always something going on here and a meeting place for all cyclists.

We've been at Giese, Boßeln, Spargelessen, New Year's Eve, last Minit, for years. etc. At Giese it is extremely cozy, nice staff, always a recommendation from us!

Gemütlich und urig. Ich habe Pflaumen Kuchen gegessen. Er war sehr lecker.

In weitem Umkreis das beste Lokal. Kleine Karte, aber wirklich lekker. Das Ambiente und die Kulisse sind sehenswert. Immer einen Besuch wert.

Traumhaft gelegen an der Hase lädt das Gasthaus Giese zum gemütlichen Verweilen bei leckerem Bier und megaleckeren, in Butter geschwenkten Bratkartoffeln ein...nach einer Kajak-Tour bei tollem Wetter genau das Richtige !!!

Total gemütlicher Gasthof! Sehr gute Küche mit netter Bedienung. Man fühlt sich wie zuhause. Selbst das Dessert kam mit Feuerwerk .

Haben Nachmittags eine tolle Brotzeit zu uns genommen. War lecker 😋 der Service war top.
