Since our last visit was about 2 years ago, we visited the beer garden of the Altes Forsthaus again today and this time we were more than disappointed... if you like a mediocre canteen, full of chattering staff and would like to spend a lot of money on schnitzel cooked in middle-aged frying oil, tasteless cold Swabian ones You will experience an absolute tourist dream here if you serve a bag of spaetzle in a Dr.Oetker-like gravy and a side salad in the style of the 70s. You can also do quick training to become a kitchen helper. All disposal and pre-sorting for the rinsing process can be sorted into hygienically and visually appealing containers filled with liquid at 30 degrees, including automatic splash water hand cleaning. A filled organic waste bin without a lid, at eye level and at 30 degrees outside temperature, is also an absolute must-have.

Our company outing with 110 people started in the Old Forester's House. They provided us with a delicious buffet with sausage, vegetables, delicious spreads and mega homemade bread. Everything worked great, everyone was happy. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING.

Well, not recommended for those who like to eat in canteens

A great restaurant for celebrating! We would like to thank Mr. Göhrum for his excellent advice on holding my birthday party in the "Alten Forsthaus". Everything was perfect: the extremely courteous staff, the great food without waiting times, the wonderful ambience with a wonderful view, the advice on the hike we were taking and the beautiful room decoration.

We had a big birthday party on July 20, 2024 with almost 50 guests and were really seamlessly looked after for almost 12 hours. Always friendly faces, always a kind word, extras were implemented without complaint (of course only as far as possible). Despite running parallel operations with another major event, the team managed to ensure that we were able to eat at virtually the same time. A really great team did an incredible job for a whole day, a big thank you for that! The best weather and the incredible ambience (landscape as such as well as the castle, which is really worth seeing) rounded off the day perfectly. We'd love to come back any time!

Nice beer garden, self-service so it's quick too. The food is delicious. There are also vegan Alblensen and good Swabian Maultaschen.

Very unfriendly staff at the checkout. Overpriced food and drink, but quality of food is okay. If you're hungry and don't care how you're treated, you can go there if necessary, but I won't go here again.

My girlfriend and I had a candlelight dinner in a beautiful location that we will always remember. Since I wanted to ask for her hand in marriage that day and the day was never the right moment, the idea was very spontaneous in the evening at the Old Forester's House. Also for the employees :-D I can only say very high praise to the team. The service was simply great, the staff was always friendly and attentive. The food was also incredibly delicious!! According to the house's suggestion, I was able to submit the application down by the pond by candlelight. And luckily she said YES! :-) My fiancée and I can therefore warmly recommend the old forester's house! We felt very comfortable there at all times!

Very nice outdoor area in nature next to the castle. The employees try hard, but reach their limits when there is a large crowd; we had to wait over 45 minutes for our food. Bratwurst and schnitzel looked good, the other things were very poor, especially the salad with fish and cheese salad were most likely cheap finished products. Conclusion: Good for a drink, not recommended for food.

It was a great destination for us as a football team, delicious food, great service and ball-friendly, happy to go again.

On May 11th, 2024 we had completely booked the Altes Forsthaus for an event starting in the afternoon. From reserving a parking space with our own guide, to the cake buffet and then dinner, everything was perfectly prepared. The traditional and still very original rooms quickly create a sense of cosiness and atmosphere. Our guests were well looked after and felt very comfortable. The surroundings, the view and the castle all add to this, making it perfect for a rustic event with high standards! Many thanks to everyone who participated and helped!!!

It has been 45 mins and still waiting for the food. They say it may take 1 hour to get the food. Ridiculous place to eat something!

Once you have completed the arduous climb to Lichtenstein Castle through the forest, you can fortify yourself here in the beer garden. The food tastes delicious, the portions are generous. You have to get your own drinks and the food is served. You can also choose from several vegetarian dishes. I recommend this beer garden

The service staff were very nice and tried hard. The ambience was completely okay. But the owner should think about something when eating. Unfortunately, it was an absolute tragedy in terms of quality and price. I had a hunter-style meatloaf with spaetzle. The sauce was pure cream, the meatloaf hardly tasted of anything and the spaetzle consisted almost entirely of water and flour and almost no egg. It was called hunter style probably because of the three slices of mushrooms as a topping. You're really annoyed when you pay almost €20 for it.

We were really looking forward to our candle light dinner and then we were very disappointed. There was zero atmosphere for such an occasion. The pictures on the homepage promise something completely different. We took a long drive for a normal dinner. We could have had something so simple around the corner.

Keine Empfehlung. Zusammengefallener Salat unappetitlich angerichtet. Forelle nicht frisch. Spätzle farblos und Linsen mit wenig Geschmack. Im Schwabenland ein no go. Ich würde von einem Besuch abraten. Selten so schlecht gegessen umd dafür zu teuer. Einrichtung für Wanderer ok. Service nett.

We came here for coffee and cake - homemade, very tasty! - to strengthen ourselves for the castle tour. I would particularly like to highlight the great service, very friendly and accommodating, despite the full house. Overall, highly recommended, you don't feel like you're in a tourist trap, but rather welcome at a decent price-performance ratio. Therefore 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sehr freundlicher und schneller Service, toller Ausblick.

Die Servicekräfte und die Aussicht samt Ambiente retten den Laden. Die Küche ist bemüht und hat was drauf aber... Irgendwie ist die Speisekarte überschaubar - aber das passt, wenn das "Weniger" perfekt zubereitet wird. Ansonsten hat man den Eindruck, der Laden verlässt sich etwas zu arg auf seine Lage und die Ausflugsgäste. Für einmal probieren gilt: unbedingt hingehen- testen und Ambiente genießen. Wer schon Da war, denn zieht es nicht gleich wieder hin. Wir versuchen es in ein paar Monaten erneut und sind hoffnungsvoll, dass der Laden die Kurve wieder ganz schafft.

Vor vielen Jahren haben wir im Alten Forsthaus geheiratet und waren damals sehr zufrieden. Seither kommen wir immer wieder mal her und wurden die letzten Male leider enttäuscht. Candlelightdinner überzeugte uns aufgrund fast kalter Hauptgänge in mittelmäßiger Qualität nicht mehr. Da passt das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis nicht. Unser Besuch im Forstgarten heute war ebenfalls eher durchwachsen. Eine Art Toastbrot/Weißbrot zum Wurstsalat fanden wir unpassend, der Käse im Schweizer Wurstsalat war hart/ angetrocknet, das Gemüseragout war ok, jedoch in Kombination mit Spätzle und einem Minischälchen geriebenem Käse irgendwie unstimmig. Leider waren 3 von 5 Getränken nicht gekühlt. Das Ambiente ist und bleibt sowohl innen als auch außen sehr schön!

Wir waren zum Candle Light Dinner hier. Essen und Service waren fantastisch. Man ist auf alle Wünsche eingegangen. Sehr nette Bedienung. Wir können es zu 100% weiterempfehlen.

Wir waren mal wieder im Alten Forsthaus zum Mittagessen. Mal wieder heißt nach unserer Hochzeitsfeier im Oktober 2015, Candellight Dinner und mehrmals einfach zur Einkehr. Im Restaurant gefällt es uns sehr gut, auch die Karte und Preise sind ansprechend. Die Qualität des Service und des Essen ist sehr gut. Heute waren wir das erste mal im Biergarten. Nachdem wir einen Platz eingenommen haben, geht man mit der Tischnummer zur Bestellung. Bezahlung mit EC Karte ist kein Problem. Die Getränke nimmt man selbst mit an den Tisch inkl Gläser und Besteck für das Essen. Die Speisen werden an den Tisch gebracht. Wir hatten Kinderschnitzel mit Spätzle und Soße, sowie Schnitzel mit Spätzle und Soße. Die Essen waren sehr heiß und lecker. Die Parkplatz Situation ist eigentlich sehr gut, wenn nicht die Gäste des Lichtenstein hier kostenlos parken würden. Einfach ein kaltes Bier trinken bei einer Wanderung ist hier auch toll und man fühlt sich willkommen.

Wo soll ich anfangen! Ich versuche immer objektiv zu urteilen. Fange wir mal bei jenem an was gut war.... Die Soße zu den Spätzle und die Panade des Schnitzel's waren gut! Die Spätzle waren kalt und das Schnitzel war nicht geklopft (wenigstens war das warm). Der Beilagensalat war halb frisch und halb Industriesalat (Kraut - und Karottensalat), die Salatsoße scheint mir selbstgemacht zu sein. Auf der Karte stand was von hausgemachten Spätzle, naja darüber kann man streiten, geschmeckt haben sie nach Wasser und hatten keinen Biss. Lange Rede kurzer Sinn: DAS ESSEN WAR MÜLL...

Super Preis -/ Leistungsverhältnis. Das Essen und die Portionsgröße sind super. Der Service bzw das bedienende Personal war sehr freundlich aufmerksam. Wir hatten ein Candlelight Diner und waren begeistert. Wir werden das voraussichtlich 1 x jährlich machen :))

Hatte bei dem Preis knapp 15 € etwas mehr erwartet. Großer Salatteller und Käse-Gemüseküchle mit feiner Salsa waren dann schlussendlich Etwa 2 Schöpflöffel Kartoffelsalat, ~4 Blätter grüner Salat, 2 kleine Küchle und ein winziges Schälchen mit Salsa. Ergebnis: Ich bin nach meiner Wanderung nicht satt geworden und hab daheim noch was gegessen. Sonst war Atmosphäre gut. Ach, in der Schlange zum Bestellen hat es etwas gedauert, war aber akzeptabel. Ggf. könnte man hier noch bei vielen Kunden eine zweite Kasse öffnen.

We were celebrating a wedding here. It was just beautiful, every detail of the castle was very nice. Serving of drinks could be better - we had to wait the service every time we would finish a glass, instead of them leaving a whole bottle of drink per table (8 people).

Wir konnten leider nicht in das Forsthaus, weil es reserviert war. Das war aber kein Minus, sondern nur schade. Dafür war das Zimt-Parfait spitzenmässig. Ich hoffe, dass ich beim nächsten Besuch auch den Innenbereich besichtigen kann.

Endlich mal wieder ein richtiger Kartoffelsalat. Wie man ihn nur noch selten bekommt. Auch die anderen Salate waren sehr gut. Zudem war es noch eine große Portion. Im Biergarten ist es schön gemütlich und man kann es aushalten. Einziges Manko, die Selbstbedienung. Auf jedenfall weiter zu empfehlen.

Ausflugslokal mit der Lage am Schloss entsprechenden Preisen. Bestellt werden muss am Tresen, das Essen wir dann aber zum Tisch gebracht. Geschmacklich war's gut, leider waren im Salat einige kleine Insekten. Konnte man zwar rauspulen, sollte aber trotzdem nicht sein. Deshalb ein Stern Abzug.

Ich hatte meinen Geburtstag im Alten Forsthaus gefeiert. Wir hatten das Candle light dinner für53 € gehabt. Wir waren 11 Personen. Zuerst das Positive: das Personal, die Bedienung war sehr freundlich, aufmerksam, hat immer wieder nachgefragt ob es geschmeckt hat und ob es recht war. Die Gänge sind auch schnell hintereinander serviert worden. Auch der Tisch war sehr schön dekoriert. Auch die Umgebung der Gaststätte mit dem Schloss und Aussichtsturm ist unschlagbar. Das Negative : eine Freundin wollte die Poulardenbrust ohne Frischkäse , die wurde im Menü so angeboten. Es war einfach nicht möglich die Poulardebrust ohne Frischkäse zu bekommen. Einige Gäste haben Rumpfsteak mit Gemüse und Spätzle bestellt. Das Steak war klein und die Stücke waren dünn. Bei dem Preis hätte ich für den Hauptgang ein besseres Steak erwartet. Auf dem Tisch standen Karaffen mit Tafelwasser sprudelnd. Am Ende hat sich rausgestellt dass 1l Tafelwasser( Leitungswasser aufbereitet) 6,20€ kostet. Als wir dort waren und das Menü besprochen haben, hieß es Wasser würde auf dem Tisch stehen. Wir haben angenommen dass das Tafelwasser zum dem Menü gehört und nicht das es in Rechnung gestellt wird. Fazit: der nächste Geburtstag wird wo anders gefeiert.

Sehr schön gelegener Biergarten, allerdings nur mit Selbstbedienung und langen Wartezeiten.

War inordnung! Die Bedienung war dezent genervt, verständlich wenn man bei jeder Bestellung die Treppen nach oben laufen muss um das Essen zu holen. Die Bestellung gibt man bei der Kasse auf wo man auch direkt zahlen muss, die Getränke nimmt man sich selber mit zum Tisch, das Essen wird einem gebracht.

Auch an einem vollen Tag, wie an Ostern, war der Service super freundlich und zuvorkommend. Dafür 5 Sterne, das ist nicht selbstverständlich, wenn im Restaurant und draußen alles voll ist. Preise sind für einen Ausflugshotspot entsprechend, aber okay. Nur der kleine Beilagen Salat fiel da aus dem Rahmen. Essen ist in einer vernünftigen und guten Qualität und das richtige nach einer Wanderung oder dem Ausflug ins Schloss. Vom Restaurant aus hat man einen wunderbaren Blick auf das Tal, das ist wirklich ein Highlight.

Genügend kostenlose Parkplätze vorhanden. Restaurant ist nur wenige Gehminuten vom Schloss Lichtenstein entfernt. Herrlicher Blick ins Tal. Zahlung per Karte und bar möglich. Freundliches und aufmerksames Personal. Essen und Getränke werden schnell an den Tisch gebracht. Große Portionen bei den Speisen. Freitags und Samstags gibt's Candlelight Dinner.

Restaurant du château Lichtstenstein. Bonne cuisine allemande et très belle vue du restaurant à l'étage. Un merci spécial pour Jenny qui nous a accueilli avec une grande gentillesse et a pris soin de nous et de notre tatie, âgée de 93 ans. Nous reviendrons !

Our bus stopped for lunch as we were enroute to Innsbruck. We did not have time for a leisurely lunch but enjoyed our meal. Wish that we had more time.

Wir haben zusammen mit Freunden das Candle Light Dinner gebucht. Das Ambiente hat uns gefallen. Der Service war nett, aber offensichtlich wenig geschult. Die Wasserkaraffen und die geschlossene Weinflasche wurden auf den Tisch gestellt - zur Selbstbedienung. Das Menu war gut, der Hauptgang auf nicht vorgewärmten Tellern leider ziemlich abgekühlt. Wir haben zum selben Preis schon besser gegessen.
