As retired citizens of Füssing, we are very happy to still have an "affordable" good tavern with a cozy beer garden and a beautiful traditional guest room in our area. Stay grounded and “Lower Bavarian” and wish the entire team all the best and much success.

Prices have risen significantly, no more daily specials. Ordered pork knuckles with bread dumplings and white cabbage salad. There was nothing to complain about: everything was fresh, the knuckle was crispy, and a delicious, strong sauce. Service friendly and quick. Food was also served hot. We were there for lunch today. Had Kaiserschmarrn and Lumberjack Leberkas. It was perfect. The service was more than attentive. After the meal there was even a schnapps on the house. Good food, but Jesus, we had to wait a long time before we could eat, terribly busy, but I think that's because it is the only restaurant in the area.

We were in Bad Füssing on a shopping Sunday and then looking for a nice restaurant with a beer garden. We then found the Old Tavern on Google Maps. They have a smaller and larger beer garden (no self-service). Very nice atmosphere. We ordered 2x Trout Müllerin style and 1x Wiener Schnitzel from pork. The prices are not too high. The pork schnitzel with French fries costs 14.90 euros. However, without salad. The food was very tasty. Everything was freshly prepared and the portions were large, so you can say that the price-performance ratio is absolutely ok. All in all recommended. If we are in the area again, we will definitely eat there again.

There were three of us there in the evening. I thought the young team and the facility were great! About the food: It was good, even though there was a very high number of visitors.

The last time we were there was years ago and unfortunately the owner has changed again and the service is terrible. We waited 30 minutes for the drinks and over an hour for the food. Unfortunately we were forgotten.

Pretty old inn with a nice beer garden, friendly but somewhat overwhelmed staff, surprisingly large selection of dishes, home-style cooking, knuckle was big enough and well seasoned, unfortunately not with a really crisp crust, sauce tasted like the sauce for game dishes, not like beer sauce but OK, coleslaw a bit bland, bread dumplings large and tasty. Stayed in this highly recommended inn today, June 14th, 2024. Had a Jägerpfanderl, an onion roast, medium, and a portion of fries for the little one. The food was great, the meat was on point and the fries were nicely fried with fresh oil. Also very child-friendly as a children's chair with cushions and a correspondingly good positioning in the restaurant with plenty of space. The service was super friendly without being intrusive and the atmosphere was harmonious and clean, as you would expect in a good inn. We were looking for a cozy dinner, unfortunately everything was closed, so we came to the old tavern, the first impression was really good as we stood in front of the rustic building and the tavern was very full, so we thought it must be great, unfortunately it was We were told otherwise, as we went in, a waiter came into the tavern, who we immediately asked if there was anything available for two people, he asked outside or inside, well just pointing with his hands where it goes and nothing else , so we went in, it was really full, we didn't get far because the stuffy air took our breath away, so let's go out to the beer garden, well, we were unlucky, it was also full, so we decided to go to the park and then to wait a bit. After an hour we found a nice spot in the beer garden, even though the table wasn't cleared we sat down, we were hungry too. The waiter then managed to clear the table, although it was still sticky and it wasn't wiped, it wasn't that bad. We had also ordered a turkey schnitzel with fries and a Viennese pork schnitzel. The first disappointment was that both schnitzels had no ketchup or salt and a leaf of lettuce, and there was no trace of the cranberries either, well that's fine That dish was due to austerity measures or whatever, we finally wanted to eat, but we were still missing some cutlery, after asking the waiter three times, we got what was great, we thought, now eat and enjoy ourselves, we were hungry when we got the meat When I cut it, there was a lot of fat coming out of the schnitzel... it really swam in the fat and no effort was spared to drip it off before serving, hunger just drove it in, what happened afterwards was stomach pain and nausea, it wasn't all, we wanted to pay and promptly received the wrong bill, it was the bill from the next table and was 10 € more, but we had asked for the correct bill, it can happen sometimes, we said to ourselves that was our impression of the Old Tavern.. .. All you can say about the food is absolutely great, very nice service but the owner: he still has to learn how to deal with people as there was no space available so we had to go back to the door!!! Today we are extremely disappointed for the first time in years!!! Quality of the food was very poor. The roast pork was not typically Bavarian - poor meat quality and the gravy was totally watery. Instead of the fried trout I ordered, I got plaice fillet (service mistake!). In principle, that wouldn't have been a bad thing, as I like to eat everything fish. Unfortunately the plaice fillets were neither fresh nor properly fried. Not only that the fillets were too well done and soft/mushy. This was definitely frozen food that had lain in the “juice” for too long after defrosting! The fillets were totally watery and mushy and didn't taste like plaice. Despite complaints, we had to pay the full price. And the two schnapps on the house didn't cut it either... Conclusion: Loaction (restaurant and beer garden) great, service mediocre, unfortunately the food was a huge flop!!!! It's a real shame, because in recent years the food - always roast and frolle - has been very tasty! Everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned and cooked/fried/grilled. The dessert was also a poem. It had even become our "go-to" restaurant for years - as we eat there on the day of arrival every time we're on holiday in Bad Füssing. 😁 Once upon a time, real typical Bavarian dishes at reasonable prices. Had dinner in the old tavern today. We eat here twice a year when we're on vacation and it's always good. But today was terrible! I always order the same dish - roast pork. It's always been great before, but this time it was so bad! I've never eaten anything so bad here in Bavaria.

Here you can get a good snack and other warm dishes. Price performance is also okay, probably on the outskirts of Bad Füssing. In warm weather the beer garden is very popular and sometimes relatively full. So far, there have always been enough service staff on site to provide service relatively quickly.

The dessert apple strudel was served decoratively, nice to the eye but a small piece for a high price, not professional! All in all it was nice, but another visit is definitely out of the question! There are much better restaurants and better priced ones!
