A rustic inn near the banks of the Neckar River. A wide selection, including options for vegetarians and even vegans. Friendly service. Unfortunately, the vegetarian dishes weren't good value for money at all. I was very hungry and ordered bread dumplings with mushrooms and salad. When I saw the portion for a whopping €17.20, I was very frustrated. On a medium-sized plate, there were two dumplings, not quite the size of a tennis ball, with a handful of mushrooms in sauce and a small portion of mixed salad. Suggestion for improvement: Serve five dumplings, more mushrooms, and the salad separately in a bowl. Then the price is justified, and the guest feels full instead of frustrated.

A real highlight! The food was incredibly tasty - rustic, home-style cooking with huge portions that saved us dinner. The ambience in the lovingly restored half-timbered house is rustic and inviting. Particularly noteworthy: the music – really good rock that fit the mood perfectly. The waiter was very friendly, attentive and communicated a small error openly and sympathetically. All in all a successful visit – thank you for the great service!

We love coming here (and often). The service is always friendly, special requests such as no salt for my daughter's fries are always taken into account and the food and drinks always come quickly. A few days ago we were cycling in the evening when we became hungry. So it was time to take a break at the inn. A table in the beer garden was free. A friendly waitress immediately came to take the order. Everything wonderful. After about 7 minutes the requested beer arrived. To my disappointment, a good sip was forgotten when filling the glass. It's a shame actually. I thought back and forth about whether I should say something. But then I forgot about it. When it came to food, everything was perfect, taste, appearance, etc. Basically a very clear recommendation for the inn and still 1 point deducted for half the beer.

Especially in summer, it's wonderful to sit outside, just a stone's throw from the Neckar. The service is attentive but never intrusive. While the male waitresses can seem a bit harsh at first, after several visits it becomes clear that this is just a facade - everyone is very friendly and helpful in their own, charming, rustic way. The food impresses every time: reliably homemade, down-to-earth and simply delicious. For us as people from Neckargemünd, the Old Barn is an integral part of our culinary homeland, and we always enjoy coming here. If you're looking for hearty, honest cuisine in a cozy atmosphere, you've come to the right place!

A very nice host, despite the full reservation and small atmosphere, he was still able to accommodate us. We only had an hour to eat but it was worth it. It was very tasty, if you are in Neckargemünd for a short trip it is highly recommended.

It's a shame that I have to give one star. In fact, we had reserved a table for 6 people, 2 of whom were children, for today at 7:45 p.m. Our reservation was also confirmed over the phone. We arrived there on time, hungry and looking forward to a nice family evening and were actually turned away. This is an absolute no-go.

The “Alte Scheune” restaurant impresses with its quaint and rustic ambience. The cozy furnishings create a pleasant atmosphere that invites you to linger. Unfortunately, the kitchen could not fully support this harmonious overall picture. The venison goulash turned out to be a disappointment: the sauce was heavily juniper-heavy, but otherwise lacking in taste. It was served with Brussels sprouts, which were okay in themselves, but were covered in a very thick, fatty sauce. Trying to combine different flavors on one plate seemed overloaded and not well thought out. A reduced approach – perhaps a good, simple goulash with an aromatic sauce and spaetzle – would certainly have been a better fit and would have enhanced the dish. The service was quick, but not very friendly. The rude service didn't leave a particularly hospitable impression and further spoiled the experience. Overall, the “Old Barn” thrives on its charming ambience, but the cuisine and service could be significantly improved with more focus and attention. Less experimentation and more clarity on the plate would be a step in the right direction.

We were there this afternoon and were VERY happy about this spontaneous visit. Everything fits together the way it is. The sausage salad was all but... that's great service... the chef made a portion. Where else is there something like that please.....thank you, thank you, thank you. The service was relaxed and everything was somehow not a problem. Very relaxed, relaxed and really great. The guests were also really polite and communicative among themselves. Extremely pleasant. Food was super tasty. I ordered the matjes and it was sooooooooo brilliantly prepared. I haven't had it yet. We were thoroughly thrilled. Down-to-earth local where everything is harmonious as it is. We look forward to coming to the area again and will definitely stop there again. Plus five stars and compliments ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍👍👍👍👍🤩

We discovered the Old Barn by chance because we were looking for a nice, home-style restaurant for a family reunion in Neckargemünd with an overnight stay. It's really cozy there, the service is great and the food is just as good as expected. All in all a great evening for us - thank you very much to the entire team!

The warm food was hearty and tasty, good value for money. I had a salad plate with schnitzel strips, which was a disaster and not even remotely worth the 16.90 euros. A mixture of cabbage, carrot and lettuce strips, not dressed. On top, a blob of fatty ready-made dressing that hasn't reached the bottom layer. I added the dressing again. A few strips of schnitzel on top. I really can't recommend it...

Great rustic restaurant, with a fitting rustic ambience and very good food. We were thrilled and will definitely come back! Update: unfortunately it wasn't so good on the second visit. The food was OK (except the salad was great), rump steak wasn't medium rare, fried potatoes weren't well seasoned. Rather bland. Unfortunately, service wasn't that good either.

Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und durften uns einen Tisch im Freien aussuchen. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und flink. Die Getränke kamen schnell , der Beilagensalat zu 2 Gerichte kam kurz darauf und das Essen welches gleichzeitig nach ca. 20 min. kam, sah sehr appetitlich aus. Alles war geschmacklich sehr gut und frisch zubereitet. Wir hatten Käsespätzle, Chillischnitzel und Semmelknödel mit Waldpilzen. Wir würden wiederkommen wenn wir wieder in der Nähe sind und können das Restaurant uneingeschränkt empfehlen

After eating the sausage salad about 2 and a half weeks ago, I developed severe gastrointestinal problems. The doctor diagnosed food poisoning from germs. Result: 12 days out of action. Such crap 😠

My rump steak was more like the sole of a shoe, but the spaetzle with it was delicious. Unfortunately the sauce had way too much pepper. Service was okay and you could see the Neckar while eating (if you sat properly).

Very good food nearby with a small terrace overlooking the nice old buildings in town and a parking lot right on the waterfront of the river. You can see all the way to the other river bank. Watching passing boats, kayaks, ships, etc. can be a fun activity for kids.
