Alte Posthalterei in Osnabrück

Everything is great! Food: you can tell that an ambitious chef is wielding his spoon here. The menu reads simply at first, but a super delicious meal is conjured up here with a lot of love, craftsmanship and attention to detail. I had the Obadzta with onions and bread basket. A hefty portion and I have never eaten such good Obadztn - and I used to live in Munich! For the main course I had the dark beer goulash. Hammer! Delicious and a completely different goulash than the usual Hungarian stuff. My wife had the Munich market plate and it was sensational too. My impression is that little or no convenience products are used here. Ambience: stylishly Bavarian and very tidy, not exaggerated, super clean and harmonious. You immediately feel comfortable. Service: lively, cheeky, in a good mood - also stylish and wonderful. 200% recommendation!

The Alte Posthalterei is a really beautiful and well-kept restaurant where you immediately feel at home as a guest. The selection of dishes is good and, more importantly, very tasty. The employees are very nice and really attentive. The prices are at the usual level and therefore not overpriced. Another advantage is that the Alte Posthalterei is centrally located and can therefore be easily reached by public transport.

Thank you for being able to spontaneously free up a table for two in the run-up to Christmas without a reservation. Great service, good food... Gladly again

Very nice restaurant, but the grilled goat plate leaves something to be desired. I can buy a better lettuce from a discount store. When pointed out, all I hear is that this is what we received today. For me this is not a way.

Great restaurant with Bavarian cuisine. The portions are large, the food is delicious, and you can try various Bavarian specialties. Nice restaurant, delicious food and a cozy atmosphere

Today we went to the Sunday buffet at the Alte Posthalterei. The food was very, very tasty and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We are already planning our next visit and can only recommend it.

We were here for dinner on New Year's Eve (23). The table was ordered in advance. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere and appears well-kept and rustic. The table was reserved at 8:00 p.m. From the moment we arrived, everything seemed somewhat hectic and somehow as if you weren't welcome. The food came just a few minutes after we ordered, which was a surprise to all of us. As a joke we said that we were probably in the Bavarian fast food restaurant. The food could be described as convenience food. Apart from the fried potatoes and the meat, everything else was probably from Homann & Co.'s buckets. Shortly before the end of the workday, these buckets were even driven past us :-). I wouldn't expect anything different from a chip shop, but somehow I would expect it from a Bavarian restaurant. Especially since you've had an almost identical dish "onion roast" several times in Bavaria Rump steak with fried onions, beer sauce and fried potatoes with bacon and onions, coleslaw (33.80 euros) was ordered and eaten. The rump steak was medium but with tendons. I would still like to give the food a solid 3 stars. It was OK, but nothing more. What was disappointing was the service. Unfriendly & inhospitable. Sure: It was New Year's Eve and it's certainly not that easy to keep staff available. But dear “Alte Posthalterei team”, next time you should say that you don’t have any free tables. From start to finish it seemed like we weren't welcome, so we could have skipped the visit. Status August 24- Response to the reaction of the management of the Alte Posthalterei. I just read your answer today and even after more than 7 months I feel my criticism has been confirmed. It probably won't be the fault of the staff, but rather the management. But maybe that's the reason why the "Alte Posthalterei" isn't that important to many Osnabrück residents, which is actually a shame. I would then put a star for your handling of criticism.

We search for an original German restaurant for a Schnitzel and draft beer. We found it and the food was fine and as it should be. In door seating was close but it looked very new and well renovated. A good place to visit when a german meal is needed.

Ambience and service were great. The portion sizes, however, left a lot to be desired. The grill plate for 22.50 basically consisted only of coleslaw. That only applies to the grill plate, I can't judge the rest.

We reserved a table here because the other places were all full. We were very satisfied. The pub is nicely decorated and quite cozy. The guests are well distributed so that you can chat in peace. Prices for meals start at €20.50. Overall, highly recommended.

Bavarian specialties very tasty.

The restaurant has a lot of charm in terms of ambience, but unfortunately the schnitzels (Viennese and the house's own) weren't really convincing... the side dishes in particular were unseasoned and didn't really appear to be fried and the bacon was unemotionally supplemented. But the meat itself was quite okay. The service was sometimes friendly, but unfortunately you felt a bit forgotten over the time. Overall, I found the visit a bit disappointing, as it seemed really promising and I was expecting a bit more given the price.

Great place to eat and/or enjoy a couple of beers. Staff is polite and friendly, the restaurant's interior is cosy with Bavarian atmosphere, meals are tasty and beer to our liking. Meal prices are affordable. It has been a whole since I tasted such a nice goulash in a restaurant! We had a bier goulash and a chicken snitzel, both meals were excellent. Don't forget to try a local liqueur! It was our first time in Osnabrück and in this restaurant, we already know we must come back. I highly recommend this restaurant for dining or having a few pints here.

Food was completely cold. Sauerkraut and the bacon cubes were gray. The spaetzle were as pale as... The salad was ridiculous. My 5 year old son does it better. Sorry. But I know what I'm talking about

A pleasant traditional Bavarian restaurant with beautiful old fashioned decor, excellent food, and friendly service. Cozy, comfortable, and delicious. The Schweinshaxen was perfect... crispy parts on the outside and tender on the inside. Very nice sauerkraut and potatoes too. And of course plenty of beer to choose from.

Waren hier zum Grünkohl essen. War alles top. Service war super, Getränke und Essen waren lecker. Keine zu langen Wartezeiten trotzdem vollem Laden Freitagabend.

Räume waren recht kalt. Das Essen vollkommen überteuert für die angebotene Qualität. Das Essen kam definitiv aus der TK, Convenience Food der einfachsten Sorte. Das Kassler zum Grünkohl sah schon unappetitlich aus und war trocken. Die Bratkartoffeln unter aller Kanone, habe ich noch nie so fad und labberig gesehen ( die Bratkartoffeln sahen im übrigen bei weitem nicht so aus, wie auf dem Foto einer anderen Rezensentin „Katja“,) . Ich habe selten so schlecht gegessen. Service ging, obgleich ich ein zweites Bier mehrfach ordern musste und so während des Essens kein Getränk hatte. Bestimmt nicht wieder.

Die Alte Posthalterei hat wie immer keine Wünsche offen gelassen. Vom Empfang, über den Service bis hin zum Essen war es ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt. Egal ob deftiges Essen wie auch leichteres Essen wie Salate, alles schmeckt sehr gut. Einzige kleine Bitte für das nächste Mal: bitte den Gastraum besser heizen, es war dieses Mal ein wenig zu kühl. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.

Wir waren mit 9 Personen dort, jeder hatte ein anderes Gericht, es wurde super zügig serviert alles passte und war mega lecker. Jeder von uns war mehr als zufrieden! Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war mehr als gut! Der Service war super nett und zuvorkommend. Auch das Ambiente war sehr gemütlich und schön, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen bestimmt bald wieder! 🙏😊

Das Essen war wirklich sehr lecker. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und ist regelmäßig hergekommen, um zu fragen ob alles in Ordnung wäre. Das Essen kam relativ zügig, obwohl es Samstag Abend war. Wir waren begeistert und kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Ongelooflijk lekker gegeten in een prachtig authentiek Duitse sfeer. Ondanks de drukte kregen we de schnitzels snel en de bijbestelde champignons waren enorm groot en superlekker. Porties zijn meer dan genoeg, we moesten een beetje laten staan. De rabarber limonade was ook top!

Am Tisch hatten wir Steak, Schweinshaxe, Käsespätzle, Kassler und Wurst mit Grünkohl und alle waren sehr zufrieden...sehr gute Küche und das Ambiente ist auch sehr entspannt

An einem Samstag Abend war es normal besucht, das Essen hat fast 1 Stunde gedauert bis es kam und war leider teilweise nur lau warm. Das kalte Essen ging zurück weil die Spätzle leider kalt waren. Viele Gerichte gab es nur mit Bratkartoffeln und Speck. Vegetarisch nur zwei Gerichte. Alles in allem ganz ok, nur schade das das mit dem Essen nicht so gut war.

Super freundlicher Service und ein leckeres Abendessen. 😋

Zünftig und lecker…. Wir saßen zu zweit draussen im Biergarten. Sowohl das Essen als auch der Service waren sehr gut. Auch Sonderwünsche beim Dessert wurden problemlos abgebildet. Also, wer es zünftig bzw. bayrisch mag, ist hier definitiv richtig. Die Portionen sind ausreichend und ds Bier lecker. Weiter so! Nur die Lage direkt an der Strasse schmälert ein wenig das Erlebnis - zumindest in den Stoß- und Feierabendzeiten. Kann man aber ertragen…
