Delicious food with great service!

We discovered this restaurant quite by chance on our bike ride today, and we're delighted we did. The food there is delicious; everything was super tasty and fresh. We'll definitely be back.

A very rustic restaurant nestled in the woods. A large tree stands in the middle of the restaurant, adding to the unique atmosphere. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and prompt. It's a shame it was raining that day, so we couldn't explore further outside.

Today, the employee wasn't hospitable. We arrived a little early, but she made no effort to ask us what we wanted five minutes before opening time. I'm not used to that. I used to manage a café. Never had that experience with me, no go! She didn't give us a word and just pulled a face. Otherwise, a great place; I'd train the employee again.

May 30, 2025 Busy. Reservations required. Ordered: fried herring with fried potatoes and salad. It was good, but not enough to fill you up. Three herring fillets just aren't enough.

I found the soup/stew portion too small for the price. Otherwise, the dishes were OK.

Totally delicious food, in a very cozy inn. Where does a tree grow out of the roof? You should make a reservation, but it's definitely worth it. If you love good regional cuisine, you should definitely stop by here...

Wonderful hut in a secluded setting. The staff was quick and super funny, served us in a friendly manner and responded to requests that were within the feasible range. Any time again and very relaxing after a short hike and the food is delicious and beautifully prepared.

We always love being here again. The food is very tasty and nicely presented. The staff are family-friendly with a pleasant pinch of reserve. It's quick, from ordering to enjoyment. We like to sit outside, which of course is not possible in winter. Unfortunately it's a bit too dark inside for us.

We went to the Alte Moorhütte for the first time on March 23, 2025 and we really liked it. The food was excellent, the prices were normal and the service was nice and friendly. We'll be back. That is certain.

Nicely located restaurant with a nice outdoor area. Unfortunately, the cake didn't work at all and the price was completely excessive. We were also served by an employee who was obviously ill. We understand that staff absences are difficult, but perhaps another solution can be found in such cases - both in the interests of the health of employees and guests.

Food and service were great. Luckily we were there relatively early on a Sunday, otherwise you would have to wait for a free table. Gladly again 🙃

The food is really highly recommended. Super tasty and the portions are impressive. Everyone is super friendly and also has a relaxed atmosphere.

Finally back to our very cozy old moor hut on the north bank of the Steinhuder Meer, we are very happy and the food is, as usual, very delicious, the staff friendly as always. Homely since my childhood, just nice and so cozy.

The food was plentiful. Who doesn't get enough here? I only gave the ambience three stars because the restaurant was only moderately heated, not enough for older people.

Hello!! Went to lunch today - you should actually be arrested for assault! The food was so plentiful and delicious - we HAD to eat it all and almost burst! The chicken soup was tasty -- lots of stuffing -- and warm baguettes! Homemade brawn, fried potatoes and a super delicious salad!! My husband had the fish pan -- just as great! It's a shame we're only on vacation!! We would definitely let ourselves be pampered like this often!! This was the best restaurant in a long time!!🥰 Also worth mentioning is the nice waiter and the lady behind the counter! Big compliments again to the hard-working kitchen team!! Most unfriendly staff! The customer who would like to eat there is DISRUPTING. The following situation: Arrived, asked for a table. I was supposed to look for myself (still a relatively friendly counter worker), just not the tables that were marked reserved. Found a table, you're happy. Please make a short-term reservation for a few minutes to repark my car. Another service worker hears this and shouts at me in the tone of a wild fury that it doesn't work!!!!!! [If at least the management had style, this person would immediately release you from duty.] I'm gone and I'm never coming back. I also recommend this to others if they want to save themselves trouble. You can't get more CUSTOMER HOSPITALITY.

Just great. Unfortunately I couldn't try everything. 😀 Unfortunately I can’t complain. Great food, friendly service and the water is running under my bridges again. Anyone who has problems here is their own problem.

We only took cake with us, but it was very good and the sight of the fried potatoes made me really hungry

We ended up here by bike to drink a latte and a delicious apple pie. There is a tree growing through the roof in the middle of the hut. Lots of seating outside.

The 'wild' trip ;) to the Moorhütte was definitely worth it: it was really delicious; we had different dishes: steak, schnitzel, fish, various side dishes - everything was prepared perfectly! The service: very fast and friendly. The prices for this quality and quantity: absolutely reasonable. So absolutely recommended!

We always feel comfortable here, we are courteously looked after by the friendly service, and the dishes taste good and are of good quality. Yes, and the ambience is unique anyway.

Really friendly and prompt service, both male and female. The menu read delicious, of course both the brawn and the pollack fillet were served. It's no wonder the brawn is so legendary. Very good meat in a spicy coating. The fried potatoes were also very well made and seasoned. According to my wife, the fish and potato salad also tasted very good - even her plate was empty (which doesn't happen that often). So - big praise for the service and the kitchen, thank you. We would like to come back, but the 500km journey is a bit tough. Too bad!

It's just a shame that the restaurant for sailors cannot be reached from the lake side, because we heard emphatically from the jetty owners there today that mooring on private jetties for the purpose of visiting the restaurant is prohibited and the Moorhütte does not have its own jetty space have. Then that's just the way it is and we can no longer sail there to eat. We always enjoyed going there often during the sailing season.

Quaint really hut-like atmosphere inside with the thick tree growing through the roof. Beer garden also very atmospheric. Delicious and plentiful dishes.

Since the restaurant is in the middle of the forest, we always had something from the birch trees on our plates or in our drinks. The food was okay except for the vegetables, which were still a bit firm to the bite. Staff super nice and polite.

Very quaint restaurant with a very friendly waiter. We didn't make a reservation but went there spontaneously to eat. We were “sandwiched in between”. What luck, whoever came after us unfortunately had to be sent away because of the reservations. That's why a reservation is recommended. Because rightly so, it is usually full here. We had delicious schnitzel, fresh beer and a moor witch as a nightcap

Directly on the Steinhuder Meer. Rustic, delicious German cuisine. In summer outside under shady trees. Long waiting time. I waited 25 minutes for a savoy cabbage soup. Nice and friendly service.

I can only recommend the restaurant. The friendly staff, delicious food at a top price.

First impression was great. Staff was friendly. But the food doesn't deserve any stars. Were there with 12 people. 1 child had to vomit and my daughter suffered from stomach pain. I ordered the currywurst. Since I work in the catering industry myself, I know what a currywurst looks like when it is grilled or fried. Assume it was at least an hour old and was just being warmed up. I won't eat here anymore

Very good food. Had a schnitzel with Rostini, this combination alone 🤩, and chanterelle cream sauce...it was a little more expensive but worth every cent.

The service is great, that has to be mentioned, as this has become a rarity these days. When it comes to eating, I can only rate the dessert and it was great. Nice, cozy interior. Outside, it's all about nature. 😉

Every time we visit Mardorf, we stop at the old moor hut. Whether outdoors or indoors...both are beautiful. The food was always very good and the service was friendly and quick. The price/performance ratio is reasonable. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Nice restaurant in the forest. Reservation was necessary. But you can certainly sit outside without a reservation if you're lucky. Tasty food and good value for money. The only drawback is the not so clean toilets, which need to be cleaned every now and then due to the many guests.

We discovered the hut by chance by bike and stopped for a small snack and a shandy/Alster. The service was super nice, the cheesecake was really tasty (although expensive, €4.20 a small piece) and the fried potatoes with fried eggs were awesome! Yes, it's actually sad that such a simple dish has to be praised so highly, but since the chef there knows his craft, I'm happy to do so! (It's become really rare and a big compliment to the kitchen at this point!) Well, €5.80 for a 0.5l Radler/Alster is really too expensive for me, but unfortunately it's the going price. "Little tip" if it cost €4, I would definitely have drunk two! It's really nice to sit outside and it's very comfortable inside, but the toilets are getting old. I can only recommend the hut.

Super tasty, very nice staff. Gladly again at any time 😊 I had creamed savoy cabbage with fresh chanterelles and tagliatelle and my wife had a currywurst (from straw pig). I was allowed to try a bite and you could tell that it wasn't frozen currywurst. The consistency and taste were very tasty 😋

Super tasty dishes. Top service, although at this point I would like to give a big PRAISE to the waiter (according to the bill, Mr. Daniel served us) who had everything under control outside, kept a complete overview and was still friendly despite the fact that it was very full (Saturday, 01.06.24 between 6 and 7:30 p.m.). We had to wait until a table became available and then we got the food, but that didn't bother us. When we made a reservation request by phone, we were told that it was full and no more tables could be accepted, but that we would be allowed to wait if we were lucky. While we were waiting for a free table, an older couple came (also without a reservation). I asked the couple if they would sit at a table with us so that they didn't have to wait any longer, as the table we were given was for 4-5 people. It's a shame that other guests are stubborn and don't act like we did, even though the tables were big enough. The food was also great and the price was ok. One star deducted from the ambience because of the toilets! But we'll still come back because everything else was perfect.

Delicious German home cooking with a real tree in the dining room. A great experience. (Unfortunately there is no longer a guest jetty on the lake side.)

The food was plentiful and tasted excellent and the prices were reasonable. Big compliments to the kitchen. Service was quick and very friendly, even though the outdoor area was busy. A very idyllic place to stay. The journey was definitely worth it and we will definitely come back.

Even though I was alone and the Mooshütte was busy both inside and outside, I was served quickly and friendly. My fried potatoes with fried eggs were plentiful and very tasty 😋. Always my pleasure.

Sorry, doesn't work at all. You call in the afternoon and want to book a table for 7 p.m., and you are dismissed with the words, "Let's not come over like that!" At 6:55 p.m. you stand directly in front of the waitress and are asked: Have you made a reservation? Tell me, do you want to piss off the customers? It doesn't work at all!

Good food at reasonable prices in the beer garden.

Simply a lovely place to relax. But book a table in advance, otherwise you'll be standing at the door.
