Small but perfectly formed and truly beautiful. A really old tree grows in the middle of the peat house. Super friendly owners and delicious food at a more than fair price.

The interior is a very nice wooden hut. We stopped in during a shower and had a delicious meal. You can also sit outside. I highly recommend it. Funnily enough, we both had vegetarian dishes: tagliatelle with chanterelle mushrooms and the savoy cabbage roll. Oh, and there was blueberry cheesecake.

We took a break during a bike ride at the old Moorhütte. It was too chilly outside, but it was cozy inside. The food was excellent; I've never had such good fried potatoes, and the rest of the food was also very tasty. The service was prompt and very friendly, even though the Moorhütte was packed. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Moorhütte.

We were able to reserve a table at short notice and sat right by the tree IN the restaurant. It was a bit sporty, but the food also made it a great evening.

A truly fantastic restaurant. Everything was just right. The food was delicious, the service impeccable and always ready to joke. Our dogs were warmly welcomed, and we'd never experienced a restaurant with a real tree like this before. We can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Located in the middle of the forest, this is a great place to take a break even on a hot day. We only ordered ice cream and coffee, but the other guests' food looked very good.

Highly recommended: During our bike tour around Lake Steinhude, we stopped at the "Alte Moorhütte" for lunch. Although the outdoor terrace was full, we were still able to find a nice table for four. The waitress was very friendly and competent. We were able to choose from an extensive menu. The dishes were freshly prepared and delicious. The service team deserves special praise, as despite the increasing number of visitors, we received our order promptly. We had a very pleasant stay and would love to come back!

I can truly recommend this place. I wasn't expecting such fantastic food for the price. The friendly and attentive service serves good, home-style cooking in very generous portions. This certainly doesn't compromise on quality. Our dishes were freshly prepared, from potatoes to roulades. No convenience foods. It was wonderful to eat in this beautiful spot in perfect weather. We'd love to come back. A special architectural highlight: an old oak tree that has grown through the roof of the Moorhütte. A look inside is therefore worthwhile even in summer 😀

We reserved a table (it's really busy here on Sundays). The Moorhütte and beer garden are located right on the bike path. The decor is quaint and rustic, just like a hut. The garden has lovely, comfortable garden chairs. 👍 The service is prompt, experienced, and friendly. ☀️ The menu is home-style, fresh, and delicious. (Wait time: about 20 minutes) My parents ate here 50 years ago. For us, it was a nostalgic trip 👏. Thank you 🙏 that such destinations can continue to exist for generations.

A very rustic restaurant nestled in the woods. A large tree stands in the middle of the restaurant, adding to the unique atmosphere. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and prompt. It's a shame it was raining that day, so we couldn't explore further outside.

Today, the employee wasn't hospitable. We arrived a little early, but she made no effort to ask us what we wanted five minutes before opening time. I'm not used to that. I used to manage a café. Never had that experience with me, no go! She didn't give us a word and just pulled a face. Otherwise, a great place; I'd train the employee again.

May 30, 2025 Busy. Reservations required. Ordered: fried herring with fried potatoes and salad. It was good, but not enough to fill you up. Three herring fillets just aren't enough.

Wonderful hut in a secluded setting. The staff was quick and super funny, served us in a friendly manner and responded to requests that were within the feasible range. Any time again and very relaxing after a short hike and the food is delicious and beautifully prepared.

We always love being here again. The food is very tasty and nicely presented. The staff are family-friendly with a pleasant pinch of reserve. It's quick, from ordering to enjoyment. We like to sit outside, which of course is not possible in winter. Unfortunately it's a bit too dark inside for us.

We went to the Alte Moorhütte for the first time on March 23, 2025 and we really liked it. The food was excellent, the prices were normal and the service was nice and friendly. We'll be back. That is certain.

Nicely located restaurant with a nice outdoor area. Unfortunately, the cake didn't work at all and the price was completely excessive. We were also served by an employee who was obviously ill. We understand that staff absences are difficult, but perhaps another solution can be found in such cases - both in the interests of the health of employees and guests.

Food and service were great. Luckily we were there relatively early on a Sunday, otherwise you would have to wait for a free table. Gladly again 🙃

Finally back to our very cozy old moor hut on the north bank of the Steinhuder Meer, we are very happy and the food is, as usual, very delicious, the staff friendly as always. Homely since my childhood, just nice and so cozy.

Hello!! Went to lunch today - you should actually be arrested for assault! The food was so plentiful and delicious - we HAD to eat it all and almost burst! The chicken soup was tasty -- lots of stuffing -- and warm baguettes! Homemade brawn, fried potatoes and a super delicious salad!! My husband had the fish pan -- just as great! It's a shame we're only on vacation!! We would definitely let ourselves be pampered like this often!! This was the best restaurant in a long time!!🥰 Also worth mentioning is the nice waiter and the lady behind the counter! Big compliments again to the hard-working kitchen team!! Most unfriendly staff! The customer who would like to eat there is DISRUPTING. The following situation: Arrived, asked for a table. I was supposed to look for myself (still a relatively friendly counter worker), just not the tables that were marked reserved. Found a table, you're happy. Please make a short-term reservation for a few minutes to repark my car. Another service worker hears this and shouts at me in the tone of a wild fury that it doesn't work!!!!!! [If at least the management had style, this person would immediately release you from duty.] I'm gone and I'm never coming back. I also recommend this to others if they want to save themselves trouble. You can't get more CUSTOMER HOSPITALITY.

The 'wild' trip ;) to the Moorhütte was definitely worth it: it was really delicious; we had different dishes: steak, schnitzel, fish, various side dishes - everything was prepared perfectly! The service: very fast and friendly. The prices for this quality and quantity: absolutely reasonable. So absolutely recommended!

We always feel comfortable here, we are courteously looked after by the friendly service, and the dishes taste good and are of good quality. Yes, and the ambience is unique anyway.

Really friendly and prompt service, both male and female. The menu read delicious, of course both the brawn and the pollack fillet were served. It's no wonder the brawn is so legendary. Very good meat in a spicy coating. The fried potatoes were also very well made and seasoned. According to my wife, the fish and potato salad also tasted very good - even her plate was empty (which doesn't happen that often). So - big praise for the service and the kitchen, thank you. We would like to come back, but the 500km journey is a bit tough. Too bad!

It's just a shame that the restaurant for sailors cannot be reached from the lake side, because we heard emphatically from the jetty owners there today that mooring on private jetties for the purpose of visiting the restaurant is prohibited and the Moorhütte does not have its own jetty space have. Then that's just the way it is and we can no longer sail there to eat. We always enjoyed going there often during the sailing season.

Since the restaurant is in the middle of the forest, we always had something from the birch trees on our plates or in our drinks. The food was okay except for the vegetables, which were still a bit firm to the bite. Staff super nice and polite.
