Alpen Wirtshaus in Schwäbisch Gmünd

Today I ate here for the first time with my children. We had pumpkin Maultaschen (ravioli) and salad. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Highly recommended. 👍

Four of us went to the Alpen Wirtshaus today without a reservation. We were lucky, and four seats happened to become available. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. We chose the Zwiebelrostbraten (onion roast beef) and Gstopften Paul (stuffed pork). The portions were very generous and the food was delicious. We'd be happy to come back, but next time we'll make a reservation.

The side salad is served with or after the main course. In my opinion, this isn't appropriate for a restaurant in this price range.

A prime location in the city center on the market square. The service is friendly, professional, and fast, the prices are absolutely reasonable, and the food...superb! Whether it's soup, cheese dumplings, salad, spaetzle, or Kaiserschmarrn! Everything is homemade and extremely delicious.

The food was delicious and the service first-class. I was looking for a restaurant with vegetarian dishes for a colleague and found what I was looking for here. She had the dumplings with mushrooms and was very pleased with them.

I only know the restaurant from the town festival, but I have to give it a huge compliment. With the deposit tokens, you could go to the restroom in the restaurant, which was extremely clean. Plus, as a girl, you always had a place to go if something happened. Huge praise to the staff on both evenings.

We've been there several times now; the food is delicious. The staff are all very friendly. Super kid-friendly. They even have a small children's menu, and they're given crayons and coloring pages right away. In the summer, you can sit outside, and soon the large sandpit will be perfect for kids :)

I usually get a table without a reservation, but I still recommend booking online. The service is friendly and quick. You're always greeted warmly. We usually eat Zwiebelrostbraten (onion roast beef), Haxn (ham hock), or Kaiserschmarrn (shrimp). The Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) are also delicious. I'm happy to spend a little more for that. The restrooms and outdoor seating could use a bit more cleaning. Otherwise, a good place to try German cuisine.

Reservations for 15 people – group only possible for 2 hours. Failure to adhere to the exact number of people will result in a €50 "penalty." There are other options, such as somewhere else where groups are welcome. The food cannot be reviewed, as it was already rejected during the reservation process 😉

Beautiful ambiance, just what you'd expect from an Alpine inn. The service was pleasant and friendly. The cheese spaetzle was delicious, but could have been spicier. I particularly like the somewhat larger vegetarian selection for a German restaurant (although there's still room for improvement), and especially the option to order a small portion of most dishes.

We spontaneously came here for dinner and were thrilled. The food was very tasty, the service was very quick and friendly. The restaurant was very full on Tuesday evening, which is why we unfortunately couldn't stay for very long. But understandable given the offer :) All in all, a very well-rounded thing and can only be recommended.

Fortunately, the modern sanitary facilities are very accurate and very clean! Table reservations can be easily made online. This is really a very big advantage! The confirmation comes promptly. The opening times are excellent as there is no lunch break. We can only recommend this location!

Here you can get hearty, tasty Alpine dishes in a casual, pleasant atmosphere. Only the lighting is a bit too bright for my taste. Others might be less bothered. Highly recommended cuisine! We had a small side salad first (very good!), and as main courses we had onion roast, crusty roast and “g’stöpfter Paul” -> a cordon bleu, enriched with melted onions and mushrooms. All very tasty, recommended dishes! The selection of drinks is also good. The beer you have in the house is Hacker-Pschorr. The connoisseur knows: it fits! The service is also impeccable. Fast and friendly. Overall, highly recommended!

Everything really worked for us here. A friendly smile from the waiter when you enter the restaurant, a pleasantly rustic atmosphere in which you immediately feel at home, reasonable prices, good beer, and really excellent food. It's a shame we were just passing through. This restaurant had the potential to become our regular pub. 100 percent recommendation from us. It's worth coming to Schwäbisch Gmünd just for this inn.

Yesterday I met a former work colleague here for dinner and a delicious beer or two 🍻 It was the first visit here for both of us. The location is tastefully and attractively furnished, you feel right at home here and sit comfortably ✔️ The service was always polite, courteous and with the right amount of presence, always at the table to ask if we would like anything else, but never intrusive. That's how I like it personally 🙌🏻 The selection of food is extensive and should give everyone the opportunity to find something tasty. We decided on the meat patties, one “Jäger-style” with spaetzle and one with potato salad and gravy. Both dishes were very tasty. The prices are more than fair for what you get. All in all, a thoroughly successful visit; I will definitely eat here with my wife more often.

We had the Swabian sauerbraten and the crusted roast. The sauerbraten was not freshly prepared and was very tough, the red cabbage and dumplings were okay. The bacon rind was very tasty when roasting the crust, the meat was ok. However, the dark beer sauce was way too salty. My companion had to break several times 6 hours later!!! Which is clearly due to our visit to the Alpen Wirtshaus. We suspect it was the over-salted dark beer sauce, which was already bad. This was our first and last visit to this restaurant.

It was my first time there and I ordered pork knuckle with dumplings and sauerkraut. Pork knuckle had almost no crust, no bubbles, from the day before? very dark inside actually OK dumplings were very firm, like from the day before Sauerkraut went like this Many greetings to the chef 2 years ago, next time I come I would send the food back to the chef!
