ALEX Gütersloh in Gütersloh

I haven't been to the Alex in Gütersloh for six months because I've already given constructive feedback several times over the last year because the quantities were getting smaller and the prices had risen significantly. I know everything has become more expensive and it is understandable that the prices had to be raised a bit. But reducing the quantity in this way when prices are rising at the same time is not okay. Unfortunately, they didn't work with my feedback, so the situation remained unchanged last year. Now I tried again. Unfortunately with a sobering result. A chicken bowl for €16.90 included a little lamb's lettuce, edamame, dressing, some cucumber and no less than three small chicken nuggets, where the breading was thicker than the chicken that was supposed to be inside. My companion had a similar experience with his fish and chips. Anyway, three small fish nuggets with thick breading and a lot of sweet potato fries. Before the prices rose so much last year, I always enjoyed going to Alex. Unfortunately, Alex will now lose me as a customer for good, as I was once again very disappointed. And my really constructive feedback was completely ineffective. I tried again today, but it was immediately dismissed that it had always been like this. That's true, but definitely not. Too bad!

We've been back to Alex for a while now. The personnel carousel is currently turning around a lot here, a young employee always runs with another at our table, as well as a young lady. However, it was friendly and everything went quickly. Everyone got what was ordered, both in terms of drinks and food. However, we miss a selection of 3 to 4 or 5 baguettes on the menu... There was mushroom and bruscetta, baked potato with chicken, pasta. For dessert, waffles with hot cherries and vanilla ice cream. See pictures. Next time I'd love to do it again.

On the A2 with my wife and our two kids – hungry and looking for something good. A quick detour to Café Alex in Gütersloh hit the mark! Fresh, super delicious food, a great open kitchen, friendly service – and the dessert was fabulous. Everyone was full and happy. Highly recommended for families passing through!

I came across the ALEX Gütersloh by chance. Friendly staff, nice to sit and eat, large selection. I enjoyed a burger, beautifully prepared, the eye is definitely eating here, the taste is excellent, freshly prepared. I felt comfortable and everything was right for me.

Food was great. Staff very nice and accommodating. Ambience could perhaps use a new look but that's a matter of taste. I like coming here

Very very great!!! The service was very attentive and friendly. The food was great (Chicken Karage Bowl and Gyoza Bowl). The food arrived quickly. Our waitress named Svetlana offered us coffee and fulfilled our wishes. 100% recommendation and I will definitely come back.

A truly beautiful restaurant with a warm, cozy atmosphere - perfect for feeling good. The furnishings are stylish, with great attention to detail. We were particularly impressed by the terrace - very tastefully designed, quietly located and ideal for enjoying the evening in a relaxed manner. The food was excellent, everything was fresh and prepared with a lot of love. I would particularly like to highlight Svetlana, who made our evening even more pleasant with her warm manner and attentive service.

I'm a regular at Alex Café and have never been disappointed. The food is fresh and well prepared, the staff friendly and attentive. A place to which you would like to return again and again.

I can only recommend this to Alex! Breakfast has been an absolute favorite for years. A balanced good quality. Price performance also very satisfied. A very cozy atmosphere and the service has always been top.

A snack bar in the guise of a restaurant

Unfortunately the quality has decreased. Drinks and small snacks are great, but unfortunately the burgers don't work at all. The beef is of the worst quality, you can definitely taste the animal quality. Couldn't eat it at all. The fries were way too salty.

Dear management of ALEX in GT, I was a guest at your company today with my wife and our two boys... and unfortunately in the end I wasn't at all satisfied. We had reserved a table for a birthday breakfast at 10:00 a.m., but it worked perfectly. However, breakfast took a slightly different course than expected. The pancakes, for example, were... really cold, the fried potatoes as well (OK, with a lot of benevolence you could say "lukewarm") and the strawberries that my 9-year-old son had put on his plate were almost all covered with fingernail-sized, black/gray soft spots... you could also describe this as rotten. Of course you can now say that you could have put something else on your plate later on. You're right about that. But to be honest, we ran out of appetite and called it quits. And another small detail: When making the reservation by phone, I asked about a possible "birthday tribute" and was then promised to serve a piece of cake with a sparkler. Nobody knew anything about this today, so this agreement was not fulfilled. During the payment process I addressed this in a very friendly manner and at least received a “I’m sorry”. Well, I was allowed to pay just under €80 for our “breakfast buffet” (three adults and one child) and that was it. I would have liked a little more "accommodation" because overall this performance paints such a bad picture that this is the first time I've taken the time to formulate an evaluation. I met my boss here in May 2023 and we had a fruitful conversation over a meal on the terrace. Staff is polite and lovely. Service is excellent. Facilities are good.

We had breakfast yesterday and were very disappointed, the selection of cold cuts was great but if you offer scrambled eggs, Baron sausages and fried potatoes it should be hot, it was in the containers and almost cold, it doesn't taste good, that was really sad

Alex Gütersloh is a charming café-restaurant with a nostalgic atmosphere, ideal for a break after shopping. It offers a cozy atmosphere. The café sometimes has a lively atmosphere, which gives the place an exciting touch. The food is good and the service is ok.

I ordered a tomato salad where there were only 4 small tomato pieces, the rest with arugula. Which also cost 15.90 euros. What was shown in the picture wasn't actually the case. I told the waiter, but it stayed that way. Real disappointment

Good day, I found the service very bad, the waiters didn't serve us even though they obviously saw us. And that wasn't the only time I was there last time the male waiter was very unfriendly towards us. I just wanted to get rid of it because I just found it rude. LG.

Service as always very good. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has declined dramatically in recent years. Specifically not recommended: - Spicy nachos - Gyoza - Pizza rolls - Thai Red Chicken Curry - Korean BBQ Chicken - Churros (Every single dish we ordered)

I'm an ALEX fan because the chain often offers nice restaurants with a cozy atmosphere and, important to me, late-night food. Gütersloh also has a nice interior and the service is quick and friendly. It's a shame that my schnitzel was too salty and for me personally it was just music from Morad... every now and then it's ok, but one evening is too much for me...

Good food, prompt friendly service

As usual, we were there for brunch. You really can't complain about the selection and it's delicious too. Unfortunately, the waiters sometimes took a long time or sometimes forgot something that could happen... still 1 star deducted. The ambience is pleasant.

The service was horrible. I was there on a public holiday and you could see that the employees didn't feel like working. At first the wrong drinks were delivered to us, after we were made aware of this, the correct drinks came but they were in totally dirty glasses. We weren't even asked if we wanted to eat something and even when we asked if a waiter would come to us, nothing came.

We actually came here to eat, but the service was so unfriendly and listless that we didn't feel like eating anything ourselves. After that we quickly ordered a drink. We were brought the wrong drink. After a waiter pointed this out, he took it without saying a word and exchanged it for the correct drink. However, this was delivered in a completely dirty glass. We weren't even asked if we wanted anything else to eat. Sorry Alex, we always really enjoyed being with you...

Once and NEVER again!!! We had reserved a table long in advance but ended up sitting in the worst place in the store. The waiter was extremely unfriendly. When we ordered food he just left in the middle and didn't come back. The portion was overly expensive but so small that we then got a kebab from Middle East. (10/10) For €16 a burger + €5 fries I would have expected a lot more. There was music playing, but the volume varied greatly.

I was a frequent customer and unfortunately I thought of giving Alex Café another chance as the behavior of the staff last time was disappointing as they were very rude. I thought it might have been a coincidence or just a bad day. That's why I decided to go to Alex Café again yesterday with my friends. We were five people. Unfortunately, this time it was even worse. An employee with a beard was extremely rude and acted like he was trying to drive us away. We were there for two hours. He kept coming and asking if we wanted to order anything else. He literally took my coffee out of my hands even though my cup was still half full. I told him I wasn't finished yet and took the cup back from his hands. As we got up to leave he came to us with an almost aggressive attitude and asked if we would pay, although of course there was no question that we would pay! We hadn't put our jackets on yet and only three of us were already standing up while the other two were still sitting. Honestly we will never go to this cafe again and we have already told our friends about yesterday's experience. The cafe should change their employees because we are not trash to be treated like this!

Absolutely ok for a drink, but unfortunately nothing more. The atmosphere is rather loud (and definitely more comfortable before the renovation), the service is not very friendly depending on the staff and the food is mostly not really good either. The appetizers and snacks are fine, but if you want to eat a good burger, this is definitely the wrong place.

I always enjoyed going to Alex for something to eat with family or friends. I can't say anything bad about the food or the ambience. Prices are a bit steep, but that's nothing unusual at the moment. However, there is a certain employee/waiter there who is very unfriendly and blunt with the guests and writes down incorrect things and does not receive an answer when asked. Accordingly, people don't like to give tips, but he then rudely billed us and left without saying anything or asking about our well-being. This doesn't seem particularly friendly or professional, in contrast to the other employees, who are always trying hard. It's a shame, because you tend to avoid the restaurant when you're served like that.

Cozy, dimmed atmosphere, with seating outside and, when the weather is good, on the roof terrace. One of the most beautiful places in Gütersloh in my opinion :)

As always everything was perfect! The bowls taste exceptionally good, the Thai curry is a feast for the eyes and palate. 😀 And for everyone who complains about prices: it was easily worth the money tonight!

So: praise to the kitchen and service! The atmosphere is also nice and very cozy. The drinks were great, all prices were perfectly reasonable.

I was there for the breakfast buffet. The offer lasts until 12:00 p.m., which I really like. The buffet has a wide selection and is good. A little worn out on the outside, but completely okay inside. The roof terrace is good. Nice service.

Service quick, friendly and attentive. The food tastes good, but unfortunately the portions have become extremely small for some time while the prices have risen. You really shouldn't go hungry as the portion sizes are children's portions. Of course I didn't try all the dishes on the menu, but that was the case with the dishes that I and my companion had. I've always enjoyed going to Alex, but now I feel like I've been ripped off as a guest.

Everything perfect. Very flexible, our table was reserved for 20 people. During the meal we spontaneously became more and more people (for business reasons). This wasn't a problem for the staff, they simply added additional tables. Food was great, ambience too.

Been here again after a long time. Unfortunately very much diminished. Price-performance ratio is zero. If the menu says "salad side dish", then I expect a little more than 2 leaves of decoration. Fries were the cheapest quality, even better at the snack bar for 1/3 of the price. Another dish should have truffle mayonnaise with the fries. In terms of quantity, that wasn't even a teaspoon over the top. Something like that is laughable. Unfortunately, as a guest you feel really ripped off and then you understand why people go out to eat less and less. We then skipped dessert to avoid further disappointment. Lemonades and cocktails were good, but we also remembered them better. Staff friendly and helpful.

The meal, schnitzel with fried potatoes, was very greasy and from the deep fryer, breading came off the schnitzel like a ready-made schnitzel from the frozen food. The food came within about 10 minutes. The service was friendly and quick, the atmosphere was good. Would go again but only for something to drink.

The taste of the food was okay to good. You certainly won't be disappointed with the food, but you won't be totally pleasantly surprised either. If it were purely about taste we would probably have given it 4 stars. Since in my opinion the prices no longer correspond to the performance, we unfortunately have to go down to 3 stars. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio no longer fits here. Fries mayo €5.50! (They're just thin frozen fries?!). Burger without fries or any side dish around 15€. Look at the little puny schnitzel in the picture. Simply incomprehensible at these prices. Neither burgers nor schnitzels will put you on cloud nine here. The prices quoted either have to be of higher quality or at least the portions or menu composition have to be adjusted (e.g. fries included with burgers or a lower surcharge). Here you can eat much better in Gütersloh for the same money just a few meters away.

I was at Alex for the Easter brunch for the first time on Easter Sunday and I was really impressed. The selection was simply great and extensive, every dish was absolutely delicious and absolutely nothing to complain about. However, you shouldn't forget to reserve a table because we were lucky and just got the last available table. The shop is absolutely cozy and inviting. It definitely won't be the last time I'll be there. The staff was absolutely accommodating, asked several times if it tasted good and we were satisfied. I can recommend Alex without hesitation and with full conviction to anyone who wants variety and something new. Thumbs up for the chef and the staff 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Greetings Android
