Alekos Grill in Neuss

I stumbled across the snack bar on my way back from a friend's house (I'm not from the area) and opted for the gyro plate, as they were unfortunately out of Metaxa sauce. The fries, the tzatziki (it could have used a bit more garlic), and the gyro were very tasty. The coleslaw was okay. I think the price is a bit high for the amount.

Unfortunately, it's no longer the Alekos I know. A few years ago it was great, but now I can't recommend it anymore....

The gyro plate was very good, and the fries were also delicious and crispy. The server was incredibly friendly and patient, even though we had quite a few special requests. She handled them all calmly and kindly. Always a good place for good Greek food.

Since the change of ownership, it's been a complete disaster. The gyro plate is far too expensive for the small portion, the meat is dry, and they skimp on the seasoning. At lunchtime, when the shop opens, you can see that the skewer is a leftover from the day before. It's just awful that they still have to shoddy workmanship despite the high price.

The wait time of over an hour was absolutely unacceptable. Charging €11.50 for a gyro with fries and mayo is already borderline, but then to serve such a small portion is simply outrageous. The tzatziki was completely forgotten. The fries were soggy and unappetizing. Particularly off-putting: the gyro spit is apparently stacked with old, leftover meat from the day before and fresh meat on top – that's just wrong. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place at all.

Very friendly owners, menu very clear, very simple. Update April 2025: Unfortunately, I have to say that the quality of the gyro has deteriorated extremely. There was hardly any meat in the gyro bag, just rubbery skin (fat), which was impossible to chew and I had to deal with extreme stomach pains all night long. During a previous visit I also lay awake because of stomach problems. Very unfortunate.

Unfortunately, the quality and taste of the food was extremely poor. How can you cook a gyro so badly. The whole bun was soggy from the cream. The meat was completely burned. So we don't order here anymore.

Totally delicious gyros, the portion is sufficient and the prices are really fair.

We used to get something from Alekos every now and then and we always enjoyed it. Now it was the last time for us. Of the three Gyros Pita, only two were toasted, the last one was simply cold and untoasted. All of the food was ice cold, even in the bag and it wasn't because of the short walk home. Everyone's gyros were totally salty, really unpleasant. All in all a total failure. The only positive points I can mention are that it was clean and the staff was friendly.

“Alekos Grill” is absolutely recommended! The food tastes excellent, the gyro plate in particular is a highlight. The meat is perfectly seasoned, nice and crispy and juicy at the same time. The side dishes such as fries and tzatziki round the whole thing off wonderfully. The portions are generous and the price-performance ratio is good. The service is friendly and quick, which makes the visit even more pleasant. If you're looking for authentic Greek food in a relaxed atmosphere, Alekos Grill is the right place for you!

The food at Alekos Grill is wonderful. The gyros plate is a dream. Prepared with love, tasty, appetizing. Every time it feels like you're on vacation in Greece. I have been a regular customer for many, many years. 10 out of 10 points if I could give it. Keep it up!

Seit dem Inhaber-Wechsel gehe ich nicht mehr so gerne dort hin. Als bekennender Nostalgiker gibt es einfach nur einen Aleko! Und der war einfach unschlagbar! Gute Qualität - fairer Preis - gepaart mit einem einfach herzlichen und guten Menschen (Aleko). Der neue Inhaber mag sich Mühe geben wird aber m. E. nie an das Original heranreichen. PS: Die "neue" Schildbeleuchtung taucht die Norfer Kirchstrasse in gleißend helles Licht. Ein Wunder, dass dort nicht bereits Ufos versucht haben zu landen. Manchmal ist weniger einfach mehr. ;-)

Die neuen Betreiber sind einfach wunderbar. Super freundlich, das Essen ist absolut erstklassig und die Pommes und Gyros könnten nicht besser sein. Absolute Empfehlung!!!

War es bei Aleko schon immer sehr lecker, hat sich nach dem Wechsel des Inhabers zum Glück nichts zum Negativen verändert. Geschmacklich immer noch super, Personal ebenso freundlich und neu ist jetzt auch Kartenzahlung möglich. Einfach nur empfehlenswert.

Seufz. Ich wünsche mir fast, ich würde diese Rezension nicht schreiben. Aber vielleicht liest ja der Inhaber hier mit. Vielleicht lösche ich meine Kritik auch mal wieder. vielleicht vielleicht vielleicht. Ich habe als Einstieg das Standard-Essen bestellt: Pommes Currywurst Mayo. Die Pommes waren frisch frittiert, hätten aber noch 30 Sekunden mehr gebrauchen können. Die Mayo schien mir ein wenig fettarm zu sein, zumindest hinterließ sie bei mir keinen bleibenden Eindruck. Aber jetzt das Schlimme: die Wurst, sie war nicht durchgebraten sondern in der Mikrowelle aufgewärmt(!) und daher nicht wirklich heiß. Ich finde, die Qualität der Wurst ist entscheidend bei einer Currywurst, nicht die Sauce, nicht der Schärfegrad. Eine gute Wurst muss man auch ohne alles, ohne Senf oder Brötchen gerne essen. Diese Wurst aber, die mir vorgesetzt wurde, erfüllte das nicht. Sie war fade im Geschmack und wirkte ein wenig wie eine Brühwurst. Hätte ich privat ein Dutzend davon im Supermarkt gekauft, ich hätte sie nach der Hälfte weggeworfen und die restlichen ebenso. Was soll ich dann noch zur Sauce sagen? Nicht viel. Ich war von der Wurst so enttäuscht, dass ich die Sauce nicht wirklich beachtet habe. Ich hoffe sehr, dass der nette Inhaber bald schon seinen Lieferanten wechselt. Ich empfehle BÖCKELS Beste, die meiner Meinung nach die beste Bratwurst herstellen, die ich in 10 Jahren in und um Neuss essen durfte.

Ich gehe dort schon seit Jahren meine Pommes, mein Gyros etc. holen. Super lecker. Auch das Personal ist sehr herzlich und freundlich. Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen. :)

Leckeres Essen, die Pommes sind nicht ultra hart sondern schmecken sehr gut und die Mitarbeiter sind auch sehr freundlich. Trotz der momentanen Corona Situation kann man dort schnell sein essen abholen und muss nicht lange warten.
