Excellent pizzas at a very good price. The pizzas we chose were delicious, with a thin crust, crispy toppings, and plenty of toppings. It was pleasantly quiet in the restaurant at lunchtime. The service was unobtrusive.

At AL Teatro Ristorante, I had pasta with cream sauce and was very pleased with the taste. The sauce was wonderfully creamy, well-seasoned, and a perfect complement to the pasta. It was clear the food was freshly prepared. Unfortunately, the portion was a bit small, as it was truly delicious and I would have happily eaten more. However, the price was reasonable. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience that I would gladly recommend.

This restaurant boasts about its gluten-free pizzas – but not only does it conceal the unbelievable 50% surcharge, it also fails to justify it in any way. Neither the quality nor the effort put into it explains this outrageous price tag. For people with celiac disease or gluten intolerance, this isn't a lifestyle choice, but a medical necessity. No one here seems to have grasped that. The service is a complete disaster. Unfriendly, disinterested, and clearly untrained. Hospitality? Non-existent. Instead of understanding or even professionalism, you're made to feel like you're eating gluten-free for fun. Such an ignorant attitude towards genuine dietary restrictions is simply disrespectful. What's particularly galling is that the restaurant presents itself as modern and inclusive, but in practice, it demonstrates the exact opposite. Anyone advertising like this should at least possess a minimum level of sensitivity and knowledge – neither of which was evident here. The "regular" food was okay, but nothing more. Solely because of the abysmal service and attitude towards gluten-free guests, I would give zero stars if that were possible. Therefore, I can only issue a clear warning: Anyone who requires gluten-free food should absolutely avoid this place.

Gluten-free pizza is offered, but it is neither acceptable in terms of taste nor quality. The texture and flavor were disappointing for everyone at the table. The surcharge of around 50% is in no way justified and is neither communicated transparently nor explained by quality. The way our justified criticism was handled was particularly negative. Although a colleague had already been informed, there was a lack of internal communication. The server reacted extremely unprofessionally to our complaint: eye-rolling, an inappropriate tone of voice, and a complete lack of understanding of the situation. Instead of acting in a solution-oriented manner, the server argued and did not take the guest seriously. Gluten intolerance is not a voluntary choice, but a health necessity. This fact was clearly not respected here. Anyone who advertises extensively with gluten-free options should also offer quality, transparency, and sensitive treatment of affected guests. The regular food was average, but the service overall was disappointing. This restaurant is not recommended for people who require gluten-free food.

A gluten-free option was available; it tasted awful. Like cement. And they charged 50% extra for it. Absolutely unjustified. The same goes for the server. Her behavior was completely unprofessional when we told her about the poor quality of the food. She rolled her eyes and her tone was beyond rude. We can't be held responsible for the lack of communication (we had already informed one of her colleagues) or for food intolerances. Not recommended for people with gluten intolerance!!! We also celebrated a birthday there, which we mentioned several times, both when making the reservation and upon arrival. The table wasn't set with any care, nor were any birthday wishes offered.

I had reserved the cellar vault at the Alteatro for my birthday party and had spoken to both the manager and the staff on the phone. Everything had been discussed and confirmed, only the menu remained to be finalized. I had even invited my guests. It was all the more disappointing when I received a call shortly afterward saying that the reservation was not possible after all, apparently because another booking had been overlooked. How something like that could happen, even when several people (including the manager) were involved, is completely beyond me. I find it a real shame, especially because I was looking forward to the celebration there. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the Alteatro for its reliability when it comes to reservations – in my case, I certainly couldn't rely on it, and now I have to look for a new location at short notice.

We were there for lunch with seven people. Pizzas arrived promptly, and special requests were handled perfectly. High praise for that. Table service was friendly and courteous. The place was quite busy, so the noise level was accordingly. But still okay. Everything looks and was very cozy inside. A few things need to be addressed, though, which is a no-go from a customer perspective. The waiters at the bar are arguing among themselves. And they're fierce. At least we noticed it twice. New customers roll their eyes and curse in Italian. I strongly suspect there's a staff shortage here as well. But please sort this out behind closed doors. Regarding the pizzas themselves: they tasted okay, but incredibly thin. Of course, they got cold very quickly. Unfortunately, the cheese is instant. The salad was super fresh, but the lettuce leaves were oversized. Please downsize them. Conclusion: A nice lunch with some serious drawbacks. Still, 4 stars. There's more than enough potential! Your table service was amazing.

Pizza lovers should definitely try this – in my opinion, it's one of the best pizzas in all of Augsburg. The rest of the menu also impresses with a great selection of fresh, high-quality dishes. You can tell that quality is paramount here. All in all: Al Teatro is an absolute must for pizza and Italian lovers.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. We had reserved a table for 7 people (early -> 4 days in advance). Our table was in the basement... here we sat alone without any other guests, which again seemed very odd to us, and the ambiance wasn't great either. This wasn't the worst part of the evening... The waiter who served us in the basement was very rude and unreliable. He made it clear to us that he didn't feel like serving guests in the basement. When we pointed out that our table was missing a drink that had been ordered about 20 minutes earlier, there was no apology. In fact, he became rather rude. We had already been waiting 50 minutes for our food (pizza and pasta). After the food finally arrived and a friend of ours asked for spicy oil, only a very bad-tempered, overwhelmed, and annoyed Kellern appeared. We never got the oil... We all felt the same way about this waiter and couldn't enjoy our meal at all. The way the waiter treated us was truly rude. We didn't feel like guests, but more like a burden. The pizza and pasta were OK. The portions were good, but not particularly warm. To pay, we had to go upstairs and pay at the exit/counter... which we found very odd for a restaurant of this size. When it came to paying, we asked the waiter about the situation, but he continued to be rude and said that everything was normal. If that was normal, then I never want to eat there again. We paid a total of around €180. For that amount of money, we would have expected much better/friendlier service.

Unfortunately, the food was only mediocre; we expected more. The carpaccio was very bland; even with more seasoning, I couldn't bring out the flavor of the meat; it was completely lost under the celery and arugula. The pasta, unfortunately, was nothing special either. Visually, everything was very nicely presented. The service was friendly.

Beautiful location; we sat outside under the umbrellas. The grilled turkey was very dry, the side dishes were rather overcooked baby potatoes in their skins, and the vegetables consisted of overcooked, not-so-crisp beans. The bruschetta was okay, and the spaghetti with tomato sauce that my wife ordered was very good.

We were there last Saturday and sat outside. Unfortunately, we were served after 20 minutes by an unfriendly waitress, who had been chatting with other non-diners on the street. After we were allowed to order, we were initially served the wrong drink, which isn't a problem in itself. However, instead of simply taking back the drink, we were unfortunately served very unfriendly again and accused of ordering the wrong one. Our appetizer plate and salad didn't come with bread, even though many neighboring tables, served by other servers, had it. Apart from the poor service, the food was very good and the atmosphere was pleasant. However, due to the unfriendly waitress, we won't be coming back in the future.

The food is fantastic, and you can tell the people here cook with passion and love. The service is very friendly. When it's busy, it takes a little longer. The ambiance inside is pleasant and cozy. Outside, it would be nice to have a few flower pots to separate it from the street. But that might not be allowed there. 100% recommendation: the food is fantastic, and the prices are absolutely reasonable.

The food was lovely but the first waitress scoffed and ignored us after we didn't have drinks ready to order right after giving us our menus, which took 5 min to even arrive. Rest of the service was very short. We were not made to feel welcome at all.

If you were to cook in Italy the way you cook in your restaurant, you would be expelled from the country.... Italian cooking is more than pizza (with tons of industrial cheese) and tomatoes 🍅 carelessly mozzarella with a leaf of wilted basil... and undefined pasta...

The waitresses are so rude and impudent that it's a very bad experience. Waving your hands and raising your voice towards a guest can never get me anything but criticism.

We come to Al Teatro very regularly (even in the old building), but the service gets worse with each visit. You initially stand around in the entrance area for a long time until someone shows you to your reserved table. Then you sometimes wait a very long time to order (the longest so far was 40 minutes), and the waitress does her job very lackadaisically. Eating out is no fun like that... At least the food comes very quickly after ordering, and it tastes good. On top of that, even with a good tip, there's not even a "thank you"... Please don't get me wrong: if I go during rush hour on weekends, I understand the longer wait times, but this is way too much. A shame!

First, the positive: the regular pizza is delicious! But if you have a gluten intolerance: The gluten-free pizza is a bit of a cheek. The dough is store-bought, not homemade. Anyone can buy the dough and top it at home for a cheaper price...I expect a bit more from a restaurant. And then there's a €5 surcharge!!! For store-bought dough? No thanks, we'll stick with the homemade gluten-free pizza at home!

A very nice place in downtown Augsburg. The prices are reasonable, as is the service. There were two of us there, each having a drink, a starter, and a main course – and we paid just under €40 in total. I think that's really good value. Everything was really delicious, and I'd love to come back. The outdoor seating is especially nice.

First time in Augsburg and came across this restaurant and asked for a table on spec. At first service was fine, we were seated right away, ordered a couple of Spritz and they arrived quickly. No problem so far! The menus came but there was no wine list so when the waitress came back to take the order, I asked for a wine list which arrived a minute or 2 later. Instead of checking a few minutes later as to what wine was wanted or even waiting to see there and then, we were just left. The food arrived but as yet no wine had been ordered. I asked for a bottle of Primitivo, and then we waited and waited! The wine eventually arrived about 15 minutes later but by now we were nearly finished with our meal so I explained that I no longer wanted it as I would have expected it at the beginning of the meal not at the end. I wasn’t nasty or unreasonable and it must be stressed that the bottle was unopened. The young waiter scurried away with the wine and glasses and the next thing the waitress came over and started to have a go at me. I explained that I wouldn’t want a full bottle of wine at the end of my meal but would want it DURING my meal. After a heated discussion with her she went on with her job and we finished the meal. A few minutes later I could hear her discussing my situation with another table, well that isn’t great and is certainly unprofessional. I got up and asked the waitress, do I pay at the counter? She slammed an ashtray down and took me to the cash desk where she then continued with her aggressive manner and explaining to one of her colleagues that I was the one that refused the wine. I paid up and left. After just spending over 2 weeks in Italy and receiving nothing but excellent service in all of the Italian restaurants there, I wonder what has happened in Germany to think that this waitress thinks it’s ok to try to belittle her paying customers! To balance it out slightly, the veal and the spritz were both good, shame the same can’t be said about the service!

Wir kommen seit Jahren. Aber die letzten 3 mal würde der Service immer schlechter Lange Wartezeiten bei Bestellung dann nicht richtig zugehört, Portionen kleiner und teurer geworden. Vielleicht sollte man keine 3 Lokale eröffnen. Kein Vergleich zu früher. Gibt in und um Augsburg auch gute Italiener.

Well, first of all, I have to say that my husband and I have eaten here several times. Everything was good, and that's why I recommended the restaurant to my mother. She was celebrating her birthday, so we made a reservation here. There were 20 of us in total, and we were given two tables. But since we all wanted to sit together, we asked for a table to be added to the table. The waiter, who seemed quite authoritarian and served us, absolutely refused to agree. We then said that we wanted to free up the second table and just wanted the table next to it. There must have been a huge problem. Everything was probably reserved. In the end, though, we were given a table after all. It's outrageous that such a drama was made about it at the beginning. Then it continued, and the man was just incredibly rude. It's obvious that at a party, you sometimes get up, take photos, or just stand around. He kept telling us not to stand in the aisle because he had to pass by. Then they shouldn't have seated us directly by the aisle, but outside. We didn't choose the table. When we ordered a Coke and didn't get it, we were yelled at for being so busy because it was so busy. Two steaks, ordered medium rare, were brought through to the table. I really wonder if they're even interested in making money with such abysmal service. Since the latest comments about the service are piling up in the reviews here, we're probably not the only ones who are incredibly disappointed by such behavior towards guests. Unfortunately, this restaurant is over for us, and I absolutely don't recommend it anymore. We really spent a lot of money, considering we felt extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. Addendum: We looked at the bill again and noticed that the appetizer plates, which we hadn't originally ordered, had an undiscussed price. My mother ordered four appetizer plates, but they were condensed into two large platters. The price for these platters wasn't discussed, which I find absolutely unacceptable. If this had been discussed from the beginning, it would have been perfectly fine. I can only shake my head at this. This isn't how gastronomy works.

We had high hopes for this place, especially since our first visit was such a great experience. The food was delicious, the atmosphere charming, and we were genuinely excited to return the following weekend. Unfortunately, what happened the second time completely changed our view. We arrived without a reservation, fully understanding that we might have to wait. We patiently stood by until a table finally became available. We politely pointed it out to the waitress, who gestured she’d prepare it for us. But just moments later, a group of four guys walked in—also without a reservation, which we heard them say—and they were seated at that exact table by the chef. Confused, we approached the staff again, only to be told by the chef that the table was reserved. We found this hard to believe, since the group themselves had just openly said they had no reservation. My husband got frustrated and tried to clarify the situation, but instead of an apology or an explanation, we were met with avoidance from the waitress and outright rudeness from the chef. He was dismissive and disrespectful, and made us feel like we weren’t welcome. We are serious diners who enjoy and appreciate good food, and we don’t mind paying generously for it. We would have gladly taken that table and ordered food for four even more. But the way we were treated felt discriminatory, we got the impression that our being Arab played a role in how we were treated, which is deeply hurtful and unacceptable. It’s a shame, because we really wanted to eat at this restaurant. But we left feeling insulted, unwelcome, and extremely disappointed. Hospitality isn’t just about food—it’s about how people are treated. And on that front, this restaurant failed us completely.

Once and never again!!! I ordered a medium-rare steak, but I got a steak that was cooked all the way through. I ordered a Coke, but after 10 minutes, there was still no Coke at my table, so I asked at the counter and was told that there were still people sitting outside. The staff was overwhelmed, and there's still plenty of room for improvement in terms of friendliness.

The lady at the restaurant's reception was very nice and friendly. She showed us to a nice seat on the left side of the entrance. The atmosphere inside was very pleasant. However, the waiter on our side was very unfriendly and conceited. He treated us with an attitude that was inappropriate for a restaurant of this kind. The food and atmosphere are great.

Absolutely disappointing – an outrage! One star is already too many. What was sold here as a "fillet steak" was a disgrace. Tough, marbled, full of tendons – definitely not a fillet. Apparently, the inferior quality was supposed to be masked with a thick layer of sauce so that the meat was not visible. A clear attempt to deceive the guest. Despite a complaint, the full price was demanded – no concessions from the staff. Completely unacceptable to me – lousy food, questionable business practices. I will definitely not set foot here again.

We went there today for dinner with a large group (around 30 people). The atmosphere was inviting and at first glance everything seemed fine. Unfortunately, we were served by a very unfriendly lady whose demeanor and communication left a lot to be desired. At the end, when we had all paid and were on our way to the parking lot, this lady called us because we had apparently forgotten to pay something. We were treated very unfriendly in this regard. The woman threatened to call the police if we didn't pay the bill immediately. I always say that "tones make the music"; we had to find out who this supposed outstanding bill belonged to in our large group. The fact is that the lady was very rude and showed no patience for this misunderstanding. When you work with people in a public place, you have to think carefully about how you interact with them, which is why I do not recommend this restaurant.

Geschmacklich waren die Rogatoni schlecht. Fader Geschmack, nur ein Hauch Brandy. Der grobe Pfeffer von schlechter Qualität und in homöopathischer Menge vorhanden. So ertranken die Rogstoni dann leider in einer sahnigen nach fett schmeckenden Soße. Das Carpaccio und Vitello Tonnato waren gut, wenn auch nicht schön angerichtet. Dafür aber unmöglich zur Lieferung verpackt. Anstatt einem festen Deckel, wurde Alufolie verwendet. Somit klebte die Hälfte samt Soße daran. Dashboard unmöglich. Alles in allem enttäuschend und mit Blick auf den Preis, ein schlechtes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.

The old man who was a waiter was so rude with us!!We are so DISAPPOINTED with the service

A very unfriendly and rude waitress who, when I pointed out that my food order was wrong, called me stupid and said that I should speak more clearly next time! But this was a classic misunderstanding when ordering. Although I received the “real” food afterwards, in my opinion this reaction is absolutely not customer-oriented.

Service above all else. Service very rude. We weren't even asked if we needed anything else or if everything was okay. Seemed very stressed. Second cola ordered which never came but was still billed. But otherwise the food was good.
