Es war mein erster Besuch im Sultan's Manakeesh. Das Essen war sehr lecker, ausgezeichnet und preiswert, und der Service war großartig.

Das Restaurant ist schlecht darin, Essen zuzubereiten, es schmeckte schlecht und sie respektierten auch die Kunden.

Mein Rat: Falls jemand in Köln eine Bäckerei mit Restaurant eröffnen könnte, die Manakish, Ful Medames und Falafel anbietet, wäre das fantastisch. Es gibt dort eine große arabische Gemeinde, und diese Art von Essen ist nicht weit verbreitet.

Manakeesh Al Sultan ist kein typisches schickes Restaurant, für das man reservieren muss; es ist ein uriges, bodenständiges Lokal am Straßenrand, das sich auf Manakeesh spezialisiert hat, ein typisches Gericht aus Syrien und der Levante. Schon von außen fällt das rote Schild von Manakeesh Al Sultan mit dem arabischen und englischen Namen sofort ins Auge und verrät die nahöstlichen Wurzeln des Restaurants. Innen ist der Raum klein, aber gut organisiert. Hinter der Theke befinden sich die Zubereitungsecke und der Ofen, sodass man zusehen kann, wie der Teig frisch zubereitet und gebacken wird. Das Herzstück dieses Restaurants ist zweifellos Manakeesh. Dieses einfache nahöstliche Gericht, das einer dünnen Pizza ähnelt, hat eine ganz andere kulturelle Bedeutung. Die Auswahl ist groß und reicht von der klassischen Variante mit Thymian und Käse über Spinat, Hackfleisch, Hühnchen und Wurst (Sucuk) bis hin zu Varianten mit kräftigeren Aromen und intensiveren Gewürzen. Der Teig ist dünn und elastisch, mit leicht blättrigen Rändern und einem dezent karamellisierten Boden durch das Backen bei hoher Temperatur. Die Beläge sind schlicht und einfach und verkörpern den herzhaften Stil, den man häufig auf den Straßen des Nahen Ostens findet. Hier sieht man Stammgäste, die auf Arabisch bestellen, weil sie den Laden kennen, aber auch Deutsche und ausländische Touristen, die Manakeesh zum ersten Mal probieren. Menschen unterschiedlicher Kulturen treffen sich in diesem kleinen Lokal wegen eines Fladenbrots und eines Gewürzes – das ist der faszinierendste Aspekt des nahöstlichen Streetfoods.

It's a small shop with delicious foods. The shop sells mainly various kinds of pizza, mini hot dogs, and samosas. It's very popular in that area. It was pretty busy during lunch hour. The person at the counter understands only Arabic/ Turkish or German, so I had to show pictures to order food. You can have your free tea while you wait. It took around 8-15 minutes to make the food. You can pay by cash or card. We ordered a large chicken pizza, a Muhammara and cheese bread, a samosa and another snack that had cheese inside. Together they cost around 17 euros. The food was really good for the price. So, we went back to the shop for a second time. The second time we had tea while waiting and brought the food as takeaway. The shop was really small, and there were 4 tables, a tea dispenser, a vending machine, and the counter. The outside was acceptable, and it had shade outside too. The food was delicious, and it was pretty authentic, other than the pizzas which are also good. There were only two employees for some reason, but it was a nice experience. Overall it was very good, and I recommend it.

Sehr leckeres Frühstück. Wir haben uns eine Auswahl an vielen Gebäcken ausgesucht und alles hat super ausgesehen und geschmeckt. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und alles wirkte sauber. Ich würde empfehlen das Essen mitzunehmen, da das Lokal eher klein ist, aber für unsere kleine Familie hat es gereicht. Vielen Dank 👍🏼
