The music was horribly loud. I waited for hours for shawarma. Too expensive. In Cologne, shawarma costs 3-4 euros everywhere. Here, it's 7 euros. Poor Aacheners.

We read online that the interior was small, so I decided to call to make a reservation. I felt like they weren't fully understanding me on the phone (in English). Once there, there was plenty of room, and we were seated. The food was delicious! As a vegetarian, I had plenty of options. It was very noisy because the kitchen is at the front of the restaurant and many people also come for takeout.

Simply amazing! Very dedicated and attentive staff. Very child-friendly. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a seat in the restaurant, but they arranged for us to be seated in the café across the street. The food was fantastic. A wide selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes.

I've been coming to AKL in Aachen since 2012, and it's always a real pleasure! The quality has never changed over the years—everything is still as fresh, flavorful, and generous. Special mention goes to the Messa Teller and the AKL Dip, absolutely delicious and perfectly seasoned. The welcome is always warm, the service fast, and the atmosphere pleasant, whether eating in or taking away. A sure bet in Aachen, which I recommend without hesitation!

I've visited the restaurant several times and have to say: The ambiance in the city center is really nice, the location is ideal for students, and they also offer the option of ordering drinks and cocktails, which makes the visit very pleasant. About the food: I tried the "Tavukšiş" menu. A positive aspect is that you get three chicken skewers – more than usual – along with salad, fries, and a sauce. The fries are fresh and well-seasoned, and the sauce tastes acceptable. I have to criticize the meat itself, however: Anyone familiar with meat quality will notice that the chicken itself tastes very neutral, and the flavor comes almost exclusively from the breading. The meat itself should actually be flavorful – but that's not the case here. The salad is unfortunately disappointing: It doesn't seem fresh, the leaves are slightly sour in places, the pieces are very coarsely chopped, the tomatoes and cucumbers are sparse, the sauce is tasteless, and the seasoning (salt, pepper) is lacking. The bread served with the meal is rather dry and seems like it came out of a bag. The restaurant could improve this, for example, by lightly toasting it or offering fresh bread. The meal is priced at €13–14, and the portions are filling; you'll definitely be full. The drinks menu is limited – there's no regular Coke, only Fritz-Cola. Overall, the restaurant is average: the ambiance and portion sizes are good, but the quality of the meat, salad, and bread leaves something to be desired. It's not bad, but not outstanding either. You'll be full, but nothing more – you'll somehow be left feeling unsatisfied :).

AKL is simply an Aachen institution. We've ordered takeout countless times and then eaten it on the steps of the Katschhof. Especially with the newly renovated restaurant, eating in is also worthwhile. We particularly enjoyed the Jellebschorle!

Inflation has hit this fast food restaurant particularly hard. Nearly €18 for a Sharwama plate with lots of rice and salad, a little chicken and a glass of water. I won't go there again; it's clearly excessive.

Probably one of the best Lebanese food places in Aachen. The food tastes great and the grilled vegetables in the sandwiches is awesome - a highly recommended spot. The place is a bit cramped and have outgrown their popularity. You can try everything from the menu, and no dish is even remotely disappointing. And the price/performance ratio is absolutely top-notch! For me, AKL is one of the best restaurants in all of Aachen. We had a falafel sandwich and a shawarma sandwich for lunch. It was absolutely delicious! Good quality, low prices, and attentive staff.

Delicious and affordable meals with incredibly big portions. However, workload at this place is not normal at all. The waiter with curly hair is extremely hardworking and incredibly kind. I hope he is paid at least three salaries a month. If not, make his burden lighter by hiring some extra staff.

There were three of us here and we ordered one appetizer plate and one grill plate. We also had babaganosh because of the crispy bread. Everything was highly recommended. Special praise for the crispy bread. The service was warm and welcoming. I'm very satisfied.

Four of us stopped at Egmont Cafe and had our food delivered by Akl. Some people might like it, but anyone who's enjoyed Lebanese cuisine in Beirut, Damascus, Cairo, or Doha will be disappointed here. There's a lot of frying, fries are the standard side dish, and you'll end up stuffed. In conclusion: If you want a large portion from a Lebanese snack bar on a relatively small budget, Akl is the place to go. But if you want a good meal with friends, go somewhere else! And another tip: Don't order all the starters and main courses right away, as they'll arrive one after the other. Order the (substantial) starters first, and then decide how hungry you are later.

Very good food during the day, but unfortunately not in the evening. I can't say exactly why, but maybe the staff are just overtired. I won't order after 8 p.m., but I still like it before then. Service is good, but you often have to wait a long time, and the food is ready long before you're called 😂

Best middle Eastern food we have had in Europe!! After living in the Gulf for 10 years we have now been back to Germany for 1.5 years - and this is by far the best Arabic food that we have had since. We ate at Akl again yesterday. The food and service were amazing, as always. We've known him for several years, though, because our daughter worked there before college. Back then, they still had vegan mayo ;-) I still remember how she raved about the work and the great and friendly team. Akl, I sent Saskia our selfie yesterday, and as soon as she's back in Germany, we'll get together for old times' sake. :-))))

The food is okay, but the quality doesn't match the price—it's clearly overpriced overall. The service is unfriendly, chaotic, and poorly organized. Even after paying, there's no guarantee that your order will be fully served. There are much better alternatives nearby.

If you just want a quick bite to eat (fries and some meat with salad), this is a good place to go. The selection is quite large, but the dishes are rather mildly seasoned, making them a bit generic. Unfortunately, you often have to wait quite a long time, and it's very loud and hectic inside. The staff seem stressed and overwhelmed, which doesn't exactly make dining any more relaxing. It's okay for a quick bite, but I wouldn't recommend it for a leisurely meal. The hype surrounding the restaurant probably has more to do with its location: right on Pontstraße, so it's super easy to reach for lots of passersby and students. If you really want to try Lebanese food, you'll probably be disappointed here, as the food tastes rather generic. There are definitely better places to experience Levantine cuisine.

Very good food, right in the heart of Aachen, highly recommended! Three of us were here on a Friday evening. It was very busy, so the food was served after ordering by number. All three of us really enjoyed the sandwiches and were extremely satisfied, although we all had different orders (numbers 28-30). The size and price were also fantastic! I would recommend the food anytime.

We dined here on a friend's recommendation, but the experience was disappointing. Lebanese street food served by the plate or takeout, fast food style, basically just fried food with a little salad (falafel that tasted only of oil). We also ended up getting a table in the chaotic, hot takeout area. Drinks were very expensive for a place like this, with a lemonade costing €5.20. What really pissed me off was that, when it came to paying, the young waitress showed me the total price (€32.60) and I held up my card to pay: well, a 15% tip had been pre-set without me even selecting anything!!! I don't recommend it.

The AKL has been our absolute favorite restaurant in Aachen for many years. Whether you just want a quick bite or are really hungry, you'll always find something here. Vegetarian, vegan, or with meat, the menu has a lot to offer, and so far, every companion has been enthusiastic about our recommendation. I personally love No. 50. The service is always very friendly, and it just feels really good. We're very happy that they've expanded their premises and wish the AKL many, many years of success!

I recently visited a Lebanese restaurant in Aachen, Germany, and despite it being quite busy, the sandwiches were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this place to everyone. The atmosphere is authentically Arabic, complemented by traditional Arabic music, creating a truly enjoyable dining experience.

One of the best oriental food in Aachen

Waited 45 minutes for shawarma. An Arab woman arrived after me and was served immediately, even though he initially told her it would take 10 minutes. That's racist.

My wife and I were passing through and stopped in Aachen. The locals immediately recommended AKL to us. After eating there, we immediately understood why. The food, whether appetizers or main courses, was very fresh and lovingly prepared. The taste was a true feast for the palate. The AKL team was very diligent, attentive, and helpful. Everyone accommodated our individual requests to serve us the food according to our preferences. I have to give a slight deduction for the ambiance, as the restaurant itself is "only" the size of a kebab shop. However, it should be mentioned that AKL has a partnership with the bar right next door, so you can also sit there. You order your drinks there, and a friendly gentleman from the restaurant comes to take your order. All in all, I can say that we have never eaten such delicious Lebanese food as we did here. Lebanese Restaurant Wandering around the area, you'll find people walking by, eating their sandwiches, and the Arabic writing on the sandwich wrappers catches your eye. Our orders were: Hummus, muhammara, potatoes, shawarma, and shish tawook sandwich. The hummus and muhammara were far less than expected. As for the shawarma and shish, they were legendary and incredibly well-balanced. Of course, it's not traditional Lebanese shawarma, but it's absolutely fantastic. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, but there's a slight delay in the orders. In other words, there's a bit of haphazardness in the service, but that doesn't deter you from visiting again. The only downside to the place is the noise, and in my opinion, the reason for that is the lack of furniture.

This was our first visit. The staff was more than just friendly. We had a variety of dishes and an appetizer platter. It truly tasted like Lebanon; unfortunately, the portions were so huge that we couldn't manage dessert. But we did have a delicious mocha that rounded off our visit perfectly. We'll be back.

Great restaurant, this was my second time there and I highly recommend it. They have a vegetarian/vegan menu, and the food was delicious. The falafel wasn't too dry either! The service was quick and friendly, and despite being very busy, they managed to get us a table even though we didn't have a reservation.

Fast, affordable and super tasty!

I go to this restaurant regularly, and the food is definitely delicious. However, there's an 18- to 19-year-old curly-haired employee who, apparently, speaks rudely to customers when she doesn't get enough tips. Because of this behavior, I will unfortunately not be visiting this restaurant again.

This is one of the busiest and budget friendly restaurants very close to Aachener dom(cathedral). The restaurant is continuously buzzing with takeaways where people are standing in long lines to get their orders. I dined in this great restaurant. The location is great with its proximity to the cathedral and the prime location in the old town area. You will definitely be surprised after seeing the menu and the prices given the location of the restaurant. The food was served hot and quick. The service was also really fast given the number of takeaway orders being processed. The dishes were also authentic Lebanese cuisine and one cannot complain about the taste. I had fagita veggie and falafel menu. Both of the dishes were really delicious. For drinks, fresh pressed orange juice is strongly recommended. I would definitely recommend the restaurant if you are in aachen and visiting the cathedral or strolling around the old town. It is accessible by public transport and is difficult to find parking given the area and it is a pedestrian zone. Happy eating🤤

The food was good as always, but the new "Knefe" ​​was a complete disaster. You could tell it was burnt and thrown together, yet they still charged for it. Around €10 is quite a lot. After pointing this out to the waiter, he just said, "Yes, a lot of people complain about it," and left. A shame, unfortunately, very unprofessional.

The waiter lies to us and says that the table we were about to sit at outside is reserved, even though we saw a free table, and then gives the table to two young, good-looking ladies. When I asked the ladies if they had made a reservation, they said no. How disgraceful!

AKL is a must visit in Aachen, especially as a vegan/vegetarian. I can't recommend their garlic sauce enough. The "mix it vegan" is amazing if you're feeling very hungry (it's massive) and their prices are unmatched. It can get very loud next to the kitchen though. My go-to for Lebanese food 🙌

Ich war vor drei Jahren das erste Mal in diesem Lokal. Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Erfahrung gehabt und ich hatte den Laden nicht vergessen und wollte zurückkommen. Ich war dann im April 2025 nochmal da. Ich wusste jedoch nicht, dass die beiden Besitzer, sprich AKL und das Lokal daneben mit Sitzmöglichkeiten draußen nicht mehr zusammen arbeiten. Dementsprechend musste ich mich im kleinen AKL reinsetzen. Die Location ist ziemlich eng und sehr voll. Touristen sind sehr laut und verdammt nervig! Ich habe einen Fallafelteller mit Pommes bestellt. Leider wurden mir Fertigfallafeln in runder Form mit Loch in der Mitte serviert. Wir haben dort vor drei Jahren frische, hausgemachte Fallafeln gegessen. Ich fand diese Entwicklung ziemlich traurig. Der Teller war trotz allem im großen und ganzen lecker. Die Jogurtsoße war hervorragend! Der Service war auch sehr freundlich. Aber ich erwarte von einem libanesischen Restaurant frische Fallafeln. Vor allem weil man extra für die Fallafeln dort essen geht. Sehr schade, dass diese Zusammenarbeit mit dem anderen Lokal auch nicht mehr besteht!

I first visited this restaurant three years ago. We had a wonderful experience, and I hadn't forgotten the place and wanted to return. I returned in April 2025. However, I didn't know that the two owners, AKL and the restaurant next door with outdoor seating, were no longer working together. So, I had to sit in the small AKL. The place is quite cramped and very crowded. Tourists are very loud and incredibly annoying! I ordered a plate of fallafel with fries. Unfortunately, I was served ready-made, round fallafel with a hole in the middle. We ate fresh, homemade fallafel there three years ago. I found this turnaround quite sad. Despite everything, the plate was overall delicious. The yogurt sauce was excellent! The service was also very friendly. But I expect fresh fallafel from a Lebanese restaurant, especially since you go there specifically for the fallafel. It's a shame that this collaboration with the other restaurant is no longer in place either!

I was in Aachen for several weeks for work, and after discovering AKL, we ate there every other day. We sat in the neighboring restaurant, ordered our drinks there, and ordered AKL's food. I wish AKL was in my city.

Het eten was ronduit goor, vies en vooral vettig. Ik had een Sandwich Schish Kabab, daar droop het vet uit: alsof je een kraantje vet open zette, zo ontzettend vet. Vet en saus, veel saus!! Oja, en ergens zaten er nog een paar frieten in de sandwich en een stukje vlees.... Ik had grote honger, maar na de eerste hap was ik wel klaar ermee. Laten liggen. [ik zag overigens op alle borden flinke porties liggen die afgeruimd werden, dus het lag zeker niet aan mij alleen.] Zeker is het heel goedkoop, maar deze prijs betaal je ook op andere plaatsen, en dan krijg je wel iets wat eetbaar is. Een keer en NOOIT meer.
