AKL Libanesisches Restaurant in Aachen

I spontaneously came here with four friends during the week. Since the outside seating was too drafty, we were seated in a café that also sells the food. The shawarma menu was delicious, perhaps a bit too much cumin for me. Very good value for money.

Super nice restaurant, everything is delicious and the portions are huge! Come before 18:30 or you will definitely be in line. The street it is in is not the nicest street in Aachen, but because of a few other restaurants in that street there is a nice atmosphere.

I first visited this restaurant three years ago. We had a wonderful experience, and I hadn't forgotten the place and wanted to return. I returned in April 2025. However, I didn't know that the two owners, AKL and the restaurant next door with outdoor seating, were no longer working together. So, I had to sit in the small AKL. The place is quite cramped and very crowded. Tourists are very loud and incredibly annoying! I ordered a plate of fallafel with fries. Unfortunately, I was served ready-made, round fallafel with a hole in the middle. We ate fresh, homemade fallafel there three years ago. I found this turnaround quite sad. Despite everything, the plate was overall delicious. The yogurt sauce was excellent! The service was also very friendly. But I expect fresh fallafel from a Lebanese restaurant, especially since you go there specifically for the fallafel. It's a shame that this collaboration with the other restaurant is no longer in place either!

Ich war vor drei Jahren das erste Mal in diesem Lokal. Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Erfahrung gehabt und ich hatte den Laden nicht vergessen und wollte zurückkommen. Ich war dann im April 2025 nochmal da. Ich wusste jedoch nicht, dass die beiden Besitzer, sprich AKL und das Lokal daneben mit Sitzmöglichkeiten draußen nicht mehr zusammen arbeiten. Dementsprechend musste ich mich im kleinen AKL reinsetzen. Die Location ist ziemlich eng und sehr voll. Touristen sind sehr laut und verdammt nervig! Ich habe einen Fallafelteller mit Pommes bestellt. Leider wurden mir Fertigfallafeln in runder Form mit Loch in der Mitte serviert. Wir haben dort vor drei Jahren frische, hausgemachte Fallafeln gegessen. Ich fand diese Entwicklung ziemlich traurig. Der Teller war trotz allem im großen und ganzen lecker. Die Jogurtsoße war hervorragend! Der Service war auch sehr freundlich. Aber ich erwarte von einem libanesischen Restaurant frische Fallafeln. Vor allem weil man extra für die Fallafeln dort essen geht. Sehr schade, dass diese Zusammenarbeit mit dem anderen Lokal auch nicht mehr besteht!

I was in Aachen for several weeks for work, and after discovering AKL, we ate there every other day. We sat in the neighboring restaurant, ordered our drinks there, and ordered AKL's food. I wish AKL was in my city.

Afgaande op de reviews zou dit geweldig moeten zijn. Echter hebben we waarschijnlijk de kok op een heel, heel slechte dag getroffen, of er was een vervanger? Het eten was ronduit goor, vies en vooral vettig. Ik had een Sandwich Schish Kabab, daar droop het vet uit: alsof je een kraantje vet open zette, zo ontzettend vet. Vet en saus, veel saus!! Oja, en ergens zaten er nog een paar frieten in de sandwich en een stukje vlees.... Ik had grote honger, maar na de eerste hap was ik wel klaar ermee. Laten liggen. [ik zag overigens op alle borden flinke porties liggen die afgeruimd werden, dus het lag zeker niet aan mij alleen.] Zeker is het heel goedkoop, maar deze prijs betaal je ook op andere plaatsen, en dan krijg je wel iets wat eetbaar is. Een keer en NOOIT meer.

Craziness! Perfect taste from starter to main course - everything was great! The waitress (Russian accent?) also tried very hard and was simply world class.

Location is very close to Rathaus, a place with constant circulation, reservations may be needed on saturday. we tried fatteh, schish tawook menu,falafel and schwarma. schish tawook was normal but we liked the other theee a lot. prices were also very reasonable for these flavors. it is a place we will go again.

The AKL is still one of the best places to go if you want quick and good food. Unfortunately, as is often the case, all the seats were taken, so it had to be a shawarma to go, but this didn't affect the quality. The service and preparation were quick and the food was well packaged and hot. The toilets were very clean. Gladly again.

Due to the discontinued cooperation with the neighboring Cafe Egmont, space has become a challenge, but the food is still as good as it used to be and is now super cheap in comparison!

If you come from Aachen or live here, you know that AKL is the best Lebanese restaurant in the city. It is the premier destination for authentic Lebanese food. They offer everything from quick takeaway meals to elaborate plates for dining in. Unfortunately they no longer work with Egmont (which is a shame, but understandable as Egmont probably didn't benefit from people just ordering a drink while eating AKL food). This is particularly a shame because AKL itself doesn't have many seats in the restaurant and it is actually always full - which is no surprise, because the food is simply fantastic. If I go with several people, I always order the grill plate. It's actually meant for 2 people, but 3-4 people can easily share this huge plate! And it is incredibly delicious. I love this restaurant and the owner is just great. A 10/10 experience!

Es ist immer eine Überraschung, wenn wir irgendwo auf ein ägyptisches, syrisches oder libanesisches Restaurant stoßen. Unsere Erwartungen waren jedoch höher als sie erfüllt werden konnten. Der Geschmack wurde unserer Meinung nach den deutschen Vorlieben angepasst. Wir haben woanders schon viel leckereren Hummus gegessen. Abgesehen vom Baharat, das man obendrauf schmeckte, fand ich das Fleisch und das Hühnchen etwas trocken und hätte kräftiger gewürzt sein können. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sowie die Menge waren völlig in Ordnung.

Sehr empfehlenswert. Aufgrund von Platzmangel konnten wir im nahegelegenen Café Zaytouna Platz nehmen. Die Atmosphäre dort war gemütlich und angenehm. Das libanesische Essen wirkte für uns authentisch und war sehr lecker. Auch der Service war sehr freundlich, rasch und unkompliziert. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt und das Essen sehr genossen.

Highly recommended. Due to lack of space, we were able to sit at the nearby Café Zaytouna. The atmosphere there was cozy and pleasant. The Lebanese food seemed authentic to us and was very tasty. The service was also very friendly, quick and uncomplicated. We really enjoyed our stay and the food.

The place is always buzzing and busy. The food is just amazing, flavour and texture wise and it comes at a really sharp price. Staff is always in a good mood. Happy place to go, definitly the best place in Aachen for Lebanese food. Recommended first visit is the Shawarma but every dish I tried pleases.

They make very good and tasty food

One of the tastiest dishes I've eaten in restaurants recently (No.46). The price is very cheap and fair, the staff is super nice and there is a large selection, including vegetarian and vegan. The three of us shared the starter plate (No. 19) - good selection of different things if you can't decide. The other two shared number 41, the dish was completely sufficient in combination with the starters. Be sure to visit! It's best to make a reservation because there aren't that many seats.

Very good Lebanese restaurant, particularly suitable for take-away meals. The place is quite cramped, small and loud, but still quite nice. If the chairs are set up outside, I highly recommend eating there. There is a large selection of Lebanese specialties, including vegetarian ones. The prices are good and some of the portions are really big. The takeaway food distribution can sometimes be a bit chaotic. Overall, highly recommended.

Best food in all of Aachen. Always worth a visit

AKL is the place to be if you’re craving authentic Lebanese shawarma—hands down some of the best around. The vibe is warm and inviting, making it perfect for a casual meal with friends or a solo indulgence. Prices are great, and the food is so good, it’ll make you forget about the few downsides. Yes, seating can be tricky to snag during peak times, and the toilet could use a bit more love, but trust me, once you take that first bite of their juicy, perfectly spiced shawarma, none of that matters. This spot is a gem in Aachen and an absolute 5/5 in my book!

The food was very over-seasoned, but there was no salt. If you like it oriental, you will love it...The door was open and it was freezing cold, you had to sit there with a jacket. The atmosphere was similar to that at the train station, very narrow spaces and very uncomfortable. The lady from the service always tried hard...never again...

I went to eat at the restaurant three days ago after I heard it was good. I ordered a classic Fajita sandwich. It was just a sandwich of vegetables with two pieces of chicken and no taste. What a disappointment.

AKL Lebanese Restaurant is a fantastic place to enjoy authentic Lebanese cuisine! I tried Fatteh Djej there and it tasted incredibly good. The combination of tender chicken, crusty bread, creamy yoghurt and the perfectly balanced spices was an absolute delight. You can immediately tell that they cook here with fresh ingredients and a lot of love for Lebanese tradition. The taste was intense, harmonious and simply unforgettable. If you want to experience Lebanese cuisine, you should definitely visit the AKL Lebanese Restaurant. I highly recommend it and will definitely come back!

Unreserved recommendation, I've never eaten anything here that wasn't tasty. Mesa Teller was great, I eat something here on average once a week. The partnership with the neighboring shop Egmont to expand the seating is currently dissolved (as of last week) - but that doesn't take away from the delicious food :)

Das war wirklich das erste Mal, dass mir in einem Restaurant wirklich gar nichts geschmeckt hat. Nun kann ich zu der Art der Zubereitung nichts sagen, da ich zum ersten Mal libanesisch gegessen habe. Mir fehlt daher der Vergleich. Wie dem auch sei. Ich hatte den Mesa Teller und meiner Frau den Schawarma Teller. Wir fanden es absolut nicht lecker. Dieser dominante Zimt-Geschmack und die orientalischen Gewürze bestimmen den ganzen Geschmack. Und was soll so toll am AKL-Dip sein? Hinzu kommen die beengten Sitzverhältnisse und die permanent offene Türe. Schlimmer als in der Schulkantine.

I visited twice within a year. Unfortunately the difference in quality was very noticeable from the first to the second time. Unfortunately there was nothing tasty apart from the falafel: fries were very poor, salad was dry, sauces and meat were poorly seasoned. Very unfortunate.

AKL is a small shop with just a few tables. But when you would like to eat, they accompany you to the neighbour Egmond. There you can order a drink and choose dinner from the card. Strange concept, but what a surprise. Super friendly and hard working staff. And very, very good and tasty Lybian food and drinks. No wonder this place is always packed. Busy place but we sure recommend.

Hallo, ich hab hier zur Mittag Essen wollen mit Freunden Fallafell Rollo. Schnell und nett bedient worden, wir sind weiter gelaufen, ich bin wieder in meinem eigenen Geschäft nach 1min. Rollo aufgerollt doch der Rollo war kalt und der Salat darin ungenießbar und nicht klein zu kriegen. Hatte kein Lust zurück zulaufen um mich zu reklamieren. Die haben es vergessen wollen nochmal auf 😕den Toaster oder Grill es zu erwärmen. Leider dadurch auch das Brott durch die Soße so labberig und kalt. Einfach nicht geschmeckt. Hab in die Tonne geworfen Danke für die Bedienung😘

Really highly recommended. Everything fresh and fast. And if you want to sit comfortably in the evening, you have the option of sitting in Egmont and having the food from the AKL delivered to your table. No wonder the store has been running since 2010. Prices are also very fair.

Nicht ohne Grund ist der Imbiss immer sehr gut besucht! Das Essen hier ist hervorragend und das Sandwich Schawarma sehr empfehlenswert. Es gibt im hinteren Bereich Tische. Die Mitarbeiter kommen vorbei und fragen nach, ob alles ok ist. Ist es !!!

I recently visited this restaurant and although the food was good, my experience with the service was disappointing. As I ordered, I spoke in a hushed tone because I was tired and had a dry throat. Still, an employee made an unnecessary comment: "Speak up, you're a man!" This comment was not only unpleasant, but also reflected a narrow-minded understanding of masculinity. Masculinity - or a person's identity - should not be defined by how loud you speak. True professionalism and respect are demonstrated by understanding and treating all customers in a friendly manner, without imposing old clichés. I hope that in the future the staff will be more considerate and ensure an inclusive and respectful environment.

Finest Lebanese cuisine. Highly recommended restaurant for vegans, vegetarians, but meat eaters will also get their money's worth here with a large selection of grilled dishes and skewers! The homemade AKL dip is a must for garlic fans. Always worth a visit when you are in Aachen. Unfortunately there were very few seats, but this was counteracted by the possibility of ordering and eating in the neighboring cafe. Unfortunately it's a bit hectic there and ordering via two waiters is a bit complicated.

As always, the food was very tasty with fresh ingredients and crunchy little things. The roll was also tasty and well filled. The tables and chairs in the bar, where you can sit, are placed relatively close together. But that can also contribute to a certain cozy atmosphere - I found it rather stressful that day. The service staff at both restaurants were friendly and accommodating! :)
