Achim's Beck'shaus in Bremen

Beautiful restaurant with super friendly service (which applies to the entire crew during our visit). The food and drinks arrived quickly. The quality of the food (burgers and Knipp) was excellent! We were there at lunchtime, and despite the full house, the service was on top. We'd be happy to go back.

The food was delicious, but the waiting time was long. I waited almost 20 min until my order was taken.

**PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT REVIEW** I think this review is really too late but I felt this is needed so everyone who can read this knows how this restaurant treats their customers or tourists visiting this place. I visited Bremen last quarter of last year. I saw this restaurant on the recommended food places to try in Bremen. So I went and ordered the German Schnitzel. Whilst I was chewing my food, I bit on something really really hard, thought that was part of the food but when I did spit it out from my mouth, I noticed my food had a very tiny stone in it! Which restaurant would serve a customer with a stone on their food? Because that stone was really solid rock, it chipped my front tooth away. I reported it to the server and to the manager and they advised me to go to a private dentist and promised me they would reimburse the money I had to pay there (since I am based in London UK and doesn't have EU health insurance). A day after that incident, I went there again to see the owner/manager Ghofrani, she promised to pay me back or bank transfer me the amount I paid for the private dentist, but few months after and lots of conversation with her on whatsapp happened - and up to this date, they never paid the amount of money and never compensated me for the inconvenience I had to go through. I kept following up and they kept ignoring my plea to repay me. It was a very traumatic experience for me! I just went there to eat, and enjoy my time, but accident happens (which I know for sure) but they are not accountable enough to help you. If I only spoke German language or known the process how to sue this restaurant, I would have done so as they must be held liable and accountable to all their customers. To all the customers/ tourists who are planning to go here, please BE WARNED as your FOOD may have rock stones too!!!! **ADDED REPLY TO THE OWNER - No, there was no chance you wanted to refund the money I paid for my private dentist. I have been talking to Ghofrani (apparently the owner/manager) and she kept ignoring my follow ups on whatsapp. I even emailed your restaurant multiple times and you just forwarded me to your German insurance but did not sort the issue out at the end. So a BIG NO, you never really wanted to pay the money and the inconvenience you have caused me. Please stop lying to people who can read this review. **

Delicious schnitzel and home cooking in a lovely atmosphere

We had lunch at this restaurant during our weekend in Bremen. Despite having ordered a pork knuckle with red cabbage and gravy, due to a communication issue - I am not a German speaker - I was brought the dish which I am posting below in the picture section (to be precise, I specify the waitress who assisted us asked about the pork knuckle to be sure, then this mistake happened). When the dish came, I asked whether there was a misunderstanding and my dish was correct: at beginning I was told so, then afterwards the waitress apologised for the issue, which I appreciated. At this stage, also given that we were pretty much in a hurry because we hag a guided tour to visit the Townhall, all was okay (the food’s quality however is barely sufficient). What really stood out was that after having mismanaged our orders, the waitress asked us to add a service charge to the bill (which I did being caught by surprise): I found it very inappropriate, given that I didn’t receive a good service and the mistake was on the staff side. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

I ate Bergsteiger Schnitzel yesterday and it tasted really good. Big praise!!

Nice staff, delicious food, relaxed atmosphere

Four of us were there on a Saturday evening. Shortly after 8 p.m. we ordered drinks and food. The drinks have arrived. There was no communication with us at all afterwards and no one paid attention to whether we wanted more drinks or anything else. Around 9:30 p.m., after all the other tables had gotten their food, we tried to ask what was with our food. We were ignored until the table next to us wanted to pay. Then we were told that the food would come "in 2 minutes". When the food came, the sauce from one dish was accidentally spilled onto another dish and the waiter apologized. Unfortunately, the bad thing was that the dish had to be remade again and we were told that it would come "in 2 minutes" - 20 minutes later it wasn't there yet. So one of us sat without a court, which was very annoying. The lack of food was unnecessarily stressful for an autistic person. The waiter offered to take the drinks off the bill because he saw how upset we were - in the end two of us still had to pay for the drinks, which we had to clarify with him. Shortly before 10 p.m., when three of us had already finished eating, the fourth dish was served. We will not be returning in the future.

I'm really disappointed with the service and unfortunately I can't recommend it

Super disappointing, more cafeteria than tavern. Admittedly, it was a Saturday but the dining room was initially moderately busy late in the afternoon. Without prior arrangement, our table was reserved for someone else 45 minutes later (when we were already sitting at the table), so not everyone had the opportunity to order food. Especially since there were at least 5 different drink menus and not all of them made it to the menu. Furthermore, there were incorrect drinks, only some cutlery and an incorrect bill to the detriment of the guest. Inn!!! Economic thinking is very important here. Understandable, but the core remains by the wayside. In other words, you felt more like the cow with husbandry level 5 that needs to be milked. Addendum: The feedback was that there is always a time slot of approx. 2 hours for reserved guests. Unfortunately we were just “walk-in customers”.

Soggy fried potatoes that weren't hot and, apart from the salmon, totally dry fish. My friends had schnitzel with fried potatoes... same damning verdict. Totally dry schnitzel with also limp fried potatoes. Probably just in the microwave warmed up...brrrrr With the schnitzel there was Bernaise...cold... The waitress just shrugged off our complaint and said she would pass it on... Conclusion from us...not again

Great evening here. Very tasty burger and the pasta with grilled salmon was delicious! The service was 1a with stars, it couldn't be friendlier. The atmosphere is very cozy, we will definitely come back. The only thing that was a bit annoying was the very loud telephone sound...we were probably sitting too close. Still no problem, we had a great time!

Great service, great food, moderate prices.

The staff very nice. However, we then waited over an hour for our food. Two dishes were cold and two dishes were lukewarm. The waitress took care of it immediately and brought the cold dishes back to the kitchen. The schnitzel probably went into the microwave, the fries and the fish were freshly refilled. Accordingly, the schnitzel was no longer crispy but rubbery. The alcohol in the mojitos could only be felt. All in all, once and not again, despite the nice staff!

We made a reservation for 4 people at 7:30 p.m., the food came lukewarm to cold over an hour after we ordered. Service responded well, the food came back to the table hot after a short second stay in the kitchen. Still: It was tasty, but - what a shame...

One of the few places that you still find open at 9pm in Bremen, the very nice location of a classic elegant pub. We took two half portions, the pork shank in delicious beer sauce, with a side of potatoes and beetroot and a cutlet with potatoes, mushrooms, bacon and fried egg on top, a good mix of flavours, the half portions are generous, a brown beer to 0.30 and a red one of 0.50 we paid €50 plus €5 for tip which is written on the menu. The discreet service, the very kind waitress, tries to put you at ease by smiling at your every request. To be repeated in this short holiday

We went to Achim's Beckshaus for lunch today. The prices are right, the atmosphere is pleasant. The service was excellent. Thank you. We'd love to come back.

I think the last time I ate so badly was in a school canteen... everything was drowned in fat... And on a birthday, cheers meal.

We had made reservations early for New Year's Eve, eating and drinking a la carte. The day before we were informed that only a buffet was offered, €120 per head and alternatively we could also sit outside, as the drinks flat cost only €60. People; We've been happy to go to Beck'shaus for a long time, but it doesn't work that way. A group relied on it and was looking forward to spending a nice evening with you, so the disappointment is correspondingly great.

Das Essen war widerlich fettig, geschmacklos und mit drei Salatscheiben garniert. Nachdem ich die Toiletten gesehen habe, werde ich garantiert dieses Lokal nicht mehr betreten.

We went to the restaurant at the exact time of our reservation. When we told the waiter the reservation number, he said he didn't know it and ignored us. We told him "I have a reservation," but he ignored us and sent us away. 2024/12/27 12:00 at the store. In the first place, the middle-aged waiter didn't even confirm that we had made a reservation. I think that's a terrible attitude. Maybe he's the owner.

Wir wollten dort Heiligabend gegen Mittag Freunde treffen und etwas essen. Früher war dort an dem Tag eine sehr schöne Stimmung. Jetzt war es unerträglich laut. Zur Mittagszeit an Heiligabend ein DJ und Discomusik. Totale Enttäuschung. Wir haben es bei einem Getränk belassen und uns dann etwas dem Tag und der Zeit angemessenes gesucht. Sehr schade 😒. Die Bedienung war sehr zugewandt und freundlich, konnte aber leider in dem Punkt nicht helfen.

We were told we had to wait an hour for our food. It turned out to be 1.5 hour. We asked for a moscow mule for 6.66. It was not brought. Then after asking again it was brought to our table for 8.88. On the receipt both moscow mules were put on. So we had to pay extra for something we didn't get. (Us not checking good enough is our fault). Also the food for one person was burned. Will not be returning. Only the servers were nice. Also the mojitos were paid FULL price even though they were paid at happy hour. 11 instead of 6.66. Very dissapointed.

Great location and great meeting place to party with friends!

Unfortunately we couldn't get to our table early because it only became available at exactly 7 p.m. Although it is often customary to be able to be seated about 30 minutes in advance, I am not deducting a star for this as our reservation was actually confirmed for 7 p.m. and we were able to be seated on time. However, what was very disappointing was the long wait for our food. Due to the size of our group, we had to place our food orders in advance a week before our visit so that the kitchen could prepare and serve the food on time. Unfortunately, this didn't work out as planned: we had to wait almost 90 minutes for our food, even though we were previously assured that it would be served as soon as we arrived. Some members of our group left early because they still had a two-hour drive home ahead of them - that's why prompt service was particularly important to us. However, the restaurant apologized as it had a staff shortage due to sick leave. The food itself tasted very good, but the portions weren't exactly large. Overall, the visit was a bit disappointing and unfortunately I cannot recommend the restaurant for larger groups. However, recommended for a smaller group.

We were there with about 50 people on Friday lunchtime (St. Nicholas) with the Bremer Currywurst Society. A great experience and the restaurant is on the list “We can easily go there again!”. Thank you very much !!!

Unfortunately, we weren't thrilled there, very rude service, which certainly doesn't apply to everyone. Food was also bad. I had bruschetta, which tasted very musty. Ruckula was also no longer fresh, the currywurst with fries wasn't plump, very shriveled sausage than it was older Hot cocoa was water with a little milk, we let it go back then got a new one. Had to pay more as I calculated from the card then got a rude statement that the prices from the internet apply and not the one from the card that is on the table, why do you put expired cards there? Or you could have just let them know that the prices have changed, that they just don't have any new cards yet or something like that. Well, that's my opinion on that I probably won't really go there again, at least not to eat. I remember it very differently there, it's a shame

Delicious food and nice German beers right in the center!

We went to watch football in the Beckshaus. Ate schnitzel and drank beer and cocktails. Price-performance ratio is top. We had half a portion of the schnitzel and the quantity was absolutely sufficient. The service is quick and very friendly. Basically you can watch football on the many TVs from almost every place. You can also watch the games on the outdoor terrace. The only drawback that evening was that our TV blacked out for a few seconds every few minutes. You should check the technology at short notice. We'll see each other again at the next Werder away game.

Schlechte Akustik, laut. In der Nähe der Tür kam ständig Zigarettenrauch rein. Das Fenster ließ sich leider auch nur zum Raucherbereich hin öffnen. Überaus unfreundlicher, unverschämter Service: * Unser Besteck wurde weggerissen und einfach zurückgelegt, um später auf anderen Tischen zu landen. Hygienische "Glanzleistung"... nicht! * Ebenso ein Stuhl, der ruppig und kommentarlos weggenommen wurde (und ohne Not: der Stuhl wurde einfach in eine Ecke verfrachtet - kann ja sein, dass er da störte, aber wo liegt das Problem, mal kurz zu fragen?) * Wir wurden mitten im Gespräch harsch unterbrochen. * Ein Kollege, der sich uns gegenüber richtig verhalten hatte, wurde vor uns massiv von einer anderen Servicekraft abgekanzelt. * Eine Bestellung, die zurückgegangen war, kam leicht "aufgepimpt" einfach zurück. * Bei Zahlung wurde uns gesagt, dass einige Preise in den ausliegenden Karten nicht mehr stimmen und der Onlinepreis richtig sei. Sorry, aber davon war nirgends etwas zu lesen. Das ist Betrug! * Bei einem nicht aufgegessenen Gericht wurde die Person aufgezogen, dass sie nicht aufgegessen hatte. Als nur noch eine Person am Tisch saß, um auf die anderen Tischnachbarn zu warten, die nochmal kurz ums Eck sind, bauten sich in diesen paar Minuten gleich zwei Servicekräfte vor dem Tisch auf, weil sie offensichtlich den Tisch räumen wollten. Erstens hätten sie ja schon abtragen können und zweitens war das Restaurant zu dem Zeitpunkt halb leer. Was soll sowas? * Auf dem Klo wurde auch von zahlenden Gästen eine Zahlung erwartet. ... die Liste lässt sich beliebig erweitern. Es war einfach komplett kafkaesk! Essen leider nicht genießbar. * Der Ruccola, der um die Bruschetta lag, war komplett verschrumpelt. Die Bruschetta selbst schmeckte muffig (wurde von 3 Leuten am Tisch probiert). * Der Kaiserschmarrn schien auf Pulverbasis hergestellt worden zu sein. Ebenso war der Apfelmus ein ganz billiger. * Die Currywurst war verschrumpelt, wurde nur einmal kurz durch Gewurzketchup gezogen, bevor er auf dem Teller landete und die Pommes (ohne Majo oder Ketchup) waren latschig und schmeckten nach altem Fett! Wurde auch von mehreren am Tisch getestet. Einhellige Meinung. * Den Kakao haben wir zurückgehen lassen, weil er schmeckte, wie heißes Wasser mit Milchpulver und einem absoluten Minimum von Kakao. Das Glas kam zurück mit einer Milchschaumkrone. Wir vermuten, es war exakt dasselbe, nur aufgepimpt. Das "Getränk" sah noch genauso hell aus wie zuvor. Sorry, geht gar nicht! Aufgrund meiner Speise hatte ich noch die halbe Nacht Magenprobleme (ein weiteres Indiz auf das Fertigpulver). Dieser Laden scheint rein auf der Basis der touristisch interessanten Lage zu funktionieren. Ich kann nur jedem abraten, dort zu essen! Mich sehen sie jedenfalls nicht wieder!

The food is OK, very rustic which we like. The grill plate for €28.50 is a bit small, which is not OK for the price. Paid €70 with a second dish plus 3 drinks. Quite high for the ambience, but that doesn't outweigh the food, which is only a little good.

The schnitzel portion was good but for €22 the quality wasn't right. We also ordered an XL cheeseburger for €19. Unfortunately, the wrong burger was brought first, so one person had almost eaten when the right burger arrived. We felt ripped off. The bun was mini, the meat was sticking out and the cheese looked like it belonged somewhere else. Super dry, zero taste and a disgrace for the price. The fries were good. While one person was still eating, it was already being cleared away. We definitely won't go there again.

The food is good. We were here yesterday too. You can scan a QR code to submit a survey/review and receive a 20% discount voucher. After you have filled out everything, you will receive an email saying that you will receive the voucher within the next 24 hours. Today we were there a little earlier, unfortunately the voucher hadn't come by email yet when we showed the cellar the confirmation that the voucher should come by email within 24 hours, they just said there was nothing we could do, we still had to wait, so of course we didn't receive the promised 20%. We won't go there again.

We were traveling in Bremen and were looking for a place where we could have dinner in the evening. The place was packed, which is actually a good sign. Unfortunately one of the meals we had chosen was out, no problem, we quickly ordered a burger. It should be 2 burgers, one schnitzel with egg and fried potatoes and for the little one nuggets with fries. When we ordered, we were quickly told that the kitchen couldn't keep up and we had to wait a little longer. However, after ordering, it took over an hour for us to receive our food. Mind you, the neighboring tables ordered after us, but got their food after 15-20 minutes, we were still waiting with 2 hungry children by now. At some point it came. The chicken burger without breaded chicken, unlike what was stated on the menu, the BBQ burger tasted strongly of Maggi ketchup sauce instead of BBQ. There were 2x French fries and one wedge. Dry, neither ketchup, nor mayo, nor sour cream. Rather unknown for our tastes, but good. We then asked for ketchup and mayo. There was then 1 sachet of mayo and 2 sachets of ketchup. Very very little for our taste. The fries were almost salt-free. When it came time to pay, we waited another half hour because only one waiter seemed to have the authority to collect. €78 for the meal plus one drink each is anything but cheap. The waiter who served us tried hard and was very friendly, but due to the high number of visitors it was difficult to keep up with everything. I would like to give him 4 stars, unfortunately he was the only one of the service staff who looked after us who was really involved and cared.

We sat outside on Markrplatz when the weather was nice. The table was greasy and sticky but was then wiped down. Unfortunately the wiping cloth wasn't clean either. The service was quick but friendly. At first we wanted to eat something, but €13.80 for a baked potato with quark was too much for us! We then only drank a Berliner Weisse. The two stars are for the great view.

Unfortunately not my taste Fried potatoes kept warm in the bain marie were not freshly prepared Schnitzel was ok hunter sauce??? Not home cooked! (instant sauce) Since we come from the catering industry, it is unfortunately difficult to praise this Service tries its best, you have to be patient for drinks

That was the last time in this store. Staff who hardly speak German and waiting times for a cheese roll of half an hour. This was then carelessly slapped together and there wasn't even a napkin. And best of all, no trace of sorry. Over the years this shop has become a tourist spot, with completely exorbitant prices and poor quality. Even the loyalty card doesn't help.

The food is great and the waiters are friendly. I can highly recommend it.

A nice place with a charming atmosphere. The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary. The service was friendly, but could be a little faster. Good for a casual visit if you're in the area, but nothing that stands out.

Simply great...especially the cellar beer

It was very tasty food, the portions were decent and, above all, the food was (really) hot. We caught one evening when there was a bachelor party and a Bundesliga match day. Nevertheless, the team was extremely friendly and quick. The waiter came to our table and wanted to tell us that our meal might take longer, when at exactly that moment his colleague came with the eye candy. As I said, quick and super friendly. You've landed on the "gladly again" list.

They advertise with homemade cutlets! I've gotten better from frostbite! From the time we ordered to the time we got our drink, 15 minutes passed, then we got a bill for something we hadn't ordered, and after another 10 minutes we got our drink, but it took a full hour before we got our food, if only it had been as good as many reviews, we could have lived with it! We ate, paid and went our way never to visit this place again..... that's how it is! PS. There was far from a full house of guests!
